Reflections for Deputy Sheriff David Jerome Rancourt

The death of Osama bin Laden may finally bring some peace to all who lost loved ones on 9-11. It took almost ten years but some justice has been served. Thank you and the many men and women who put themselves in harms way for missions like this in order to defend us. Dave, your legacy lives on, especially in those serving the armed forces (past and present).

4 yrs have gone by and it seems like just yesterday you were taken away. I thank you for the most wonderful gifts in the world, they look just like you and even occasionally act just like you. I know you see everything, please give me the strength to continue to raise our boys the way you would have wanted and to deal with the outside issues. I will always love you.

Dear Dave;
I think of you often as I return from a business trip and cross the bridge over the Androscoggin. Your mom misses you terribly but you would be proud as she is a trooper. She needs your strength right now. Pay her a little visit. I believe that you are near to her... Give her a sign...

Attended a very beautiful Memorial Service for you yesterday. It seems like yesterday that you were here. Your boys are the best. They keep your memory alive. I miss you everyday and I am so lucky that I have still a part of you in your boys.

Hard to believe it was 11yrs ago that you and Dawn introduced us to your wonderful baby boy Jeromey. I'm grateful that he has so many of your wonderful traits and will grow to be a fine man like his dad :-) He's definitly something to be proud of.

Dave-
The last few weeks have been very special to us. We took time on 11/4 to reflect on the man you were and how grateful we are to have you as our guardian angel for Keagan. Scott & Keagan had time to reflect on the soldier and protector you were by celebrating you at their respective Veteran's Assemblies at school on 11/10. I thought of you throughout the work day 11/11 and personally thanked those Veteran's and soldiers I know keeping you in mind. I can't thank you in person, but I know you are listening...listening to all of us who talk to you, write to you and pray to you. Thank you for everything you've done and for helping all of us become better people.

Sending our love to you,
Tracey, Scott and Keagan

Your heroism and service is honored today, the third anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

To Dawn, Jeromey, and Brock: I hold you in my heart's embrace today and pray for the solace of all those who love and miss Dave. Dawn, my grandson Cody was also born after his daddy was killed. I am amazed at the strength that spouses like Dawn and my beautiful daughter-in-law Jo Ann display when they raise their families as a single parent.

Rest In Peace.

3 years and sadly it seems like just yesterday. Jeromey misses you alot and it is especially hard when Brock asks "where is my daddy". Jeromey tries to explain but says mom he's just to little to understand. I try to explain it to Brock and give J lots of extra hugs, but it can be so hard. Please continue to give me the strength and patience to raise them to be as good a man as you were. Continue to watch over the boys and keep them safe.

We love you and miss you so much.
