I love you Wood. I will never forget the year's we worked tactical/gang operations together you, myself, Dewayne, and Theo. We were always a team even thou u kept tripping over your own feet during foot pursuit's. I will miss seeing you on cafe duty with that lab top that u were constantly told not 2 bring in the cafe. We will not rest until this case is close.

Officer Wood, you are a hero and your murder the lowest form of life. What a contrast. He/she or it will face true justice, if not in this life, then in the next, of that I have no doubt.

In the meantime, my heart goes out to your loved ones. They are experiencing tremendous grief at this time. The grief will not go away, but as time goes on, it will not be as overwhelming as it is right now, however, a void now exists that can never be filled. It is of course, never really a void since you will always be there, and they will know it. They will feel your presence with each cool breeze in summer or warmth in winter. And every time they get a little nudge to do the right thing, it will be you. You are and will always be a hero.

God Bless and may you Rest in Peace, Brother.

Here in Sterling Heights, we had an Officer fatally wounded while he was sitting in his car, doing a report. It was pure, raw, murder, and it was cowardly. Officer Mark Sawyers died on June 5, 2004, and his death left a profound inmpact on so many of us. We all grieve the loss of your fallen warrior, Tom Wood. Such an unlikely death, and so challenging to try and come to grips with. We in Law Enforcement understand that we can be wounded or killed while doing our duty, but just sitting in your patrol car and being flat out murdered...well, what can you say? Come together as best as you can, and support each other. We in Law Enforcement have lost another warrior, but more important, the Woods family has lost a cornerstone....God Bless all of you. Take care of each other, and make sure you take care of the family. Be there for them when they need you, and stay out of the way when they need to be alone. Ask them what they need, and respect their wishes. We pray for all of you during this challenging time.
