I miss Cory so very much. He was a wonderful husband and father.

I was sad to hear of Cory's death. During my time at Liberal PD I had the opportunity to interact with Cory many times. He always seemed to be in a good mood, was often joking and laughing and I know he was well liked by the rest of the Seward County guys. No doubt Cory will be missed,

My condolences to Cory's family during this difficult time.

To the family and friends of Deputy Cory Ricks and his fellow officers with the Seward County Sheriff's Office:

On behalf of our entire family, I extend our sincerest condolences for the grievous loss you suffered when Deputy Ricks tragically lost his life in the line of duty. His dedication will be forever remembered.

May you be comforted and supported by your law enforcement family, and other police survivors. There are many who share this painful journey with you who will be by your side.

I am so sorry that another child will be born into this world without his father there to physically greet him or her. My grandson Cody was born three months after my son was fatally shot on April 23, 2005. We believe that our beloved Larry watches over his son, wife and family and is with us always. I know Cory is watching over his young family too. May God bless each of you and help you find some peace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the service Cory gave to his community and the citizens of Kansas, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 16, 2006.

I have had the Honor to know Cory Ricks ever since he married Amy, my niece, way back when.

I believe Law Enforcement is a way of life and the people that follow that path become members of the Law Enforcement Community or Family. As such Deputy Ricks was my nephew by marriage and my brother by profession.

My family’s thoughts and prayers are with Cory and his family.
