There are no words of comfort for the loss of this young officer. May his wife know that others are praying for her and her small child and know that she is not standing alone. May God grant her the supreme peace that only He can give.

Officer Betts and his family are in my thoughts and prayers this Christmas Eve. May God grant all who knew and loved him the strength to endure this deepest of sorrows. I did not know Officer Betts, but in the summer of 2002, officers of the East Point Police Department assisted me in rescuing 6 abandoned puppies who were left to die in the underbrush along a busy highway. Their professionalism and willingness to help will always be remembered. As a citizen, I thought to myself many times later that the East Point officers were role models of what the public expects from these heroes. I salute all of you and may Officer Betts' memory always bring warmth and comfort to you.

May you rest in peace Officer Betts.

Thank you for your service to your country.

With Deepest Sympathy

Sometime things happen and there's nothing anyone can say or do to make it better. It just takes time
time to cry
time to heal
time to be...

And even though there isn't anything we can do for you right now, we are here for you always, care for you deeply and hope you know that you're never alone.

I was deeply saddened to read about Officer Betts passing. I have young children at home and they are a joy to watch grow. Sadly he won't get that experience. Chris, know that you will never be forgotten, and your family will be watched out for by all of us in Blue!!!

My prayers are with your department and to the family and friends of Officer Christopher Betts during this horrible time. I know too well how much it hurts to loose a friend and fellow cop. Hold together, help Officer Betts' family and be with the surviving officer. This is STILL the best job in the world. Christopher is with God and would want you to continue the fight.

Mrs. Betts,

I don't know what to say that would make you feel any better about the lost that you are suffering. Patrolman Betts was doing something that we all that wear that Badge do every single day. That is the risk that we take. I hope that you will put your trust in God and that He will give you and your family some peace about the tradgedy that you all are suffering from. I have been on the road for two years also and I could only imagine the bravery that your husband was exercising. Hold on to the good times and let God work everything else out for you and that child. He would want you to move on and keep your chin up because that is something that every man that wears blue has in his heart. He was strong or he wouldn't have been out there fighting with the bad guys. He would have been in a plant or sitting behind a desk doing something that anyone can do. His job requires you to be a "true Man." That's what he did and he would want you to be strong. You all will be in mine and also my beautiful wifes prayers and we both thank you for your husbands service and we thank you for your scrafice. Behind every succesful man stands a great woman.... God Bless You, Britt and Jennifer Amory Police Dept.. Ms.

patrolman Britt Godsey

I pray for Officer Betts and his young family. Keep your spirits high. He's there with you and always will be. God be with you all.

May Officer Betts rest in peace. May his wife and young child realize that he is a hero. He was no regular man, he took on the challenges of being a police officer and tragically made the ultimate sacrifice. May his family rejoice in the fact that they were able to live with a hero.

Chris Betts was a witty, funny, and caring man. Above all, he was a protector for his country. I have never know someone to have such a sence of duty to his country. He truly loved police work, first as a MP and then as a police offficer.

Chris once read a poem at Christmas dinner, It told of a soldier that was awake by the fire and how Santa Clause cried at the sight of this lonely soldier away from family and firends during the holiday season. But the soldier comforted Santa and told him that this was his job, and for Santa to continue on, because all would be secure on his watch.

I feel that that soldier was Chris, and I know that all will be well THIS CHristmas because he is keeping watch with God from heaven.

God bless and we'll miss you!

Chris's ex-sister-in-law
