Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Tony Price Ogburn

"Friends in Blue"

We have worked together for many years,
It's our voices ringing in your ears.
We try to make those long days brighter,
And hopefully, the load a little lighter.

We send you to the bar-room brawl.
And out in the rain to the nuisance call.
We worry about you day and night.
To make sure every call turns out all right.

We share your sorrows, we share your joys,
That's why we think of you as ... "Our boys."
Then why have we never said to you,
"I'm proud of you ... my friend in blue."

On Memory
When you remember me, it means that you
have carried something of who I am with you,
that I have left some mark on who I am on who you are.
It means that you can summon me back to your mind
even though countless years and miles may stand between us.
It means that if we meet again, you will know me,
and hear my voice and speak to me in your heart.
For as long as you remember me, I am never entirely lost.
~Frederick Buechner

Rest in Peace

These were 2 of the finest men and officers you could ever meet and both had lived such interesting lives
Both of these men were in their 60s but looked and acted so much younger
Both had lived in other parts of this great country and served there Tony with the National Guard including the riots in the early 60s in Washington DC
Paul with a Sheriffs Dept in California where he was wounded in the line of duty

We are all hurting here in Henderson County and trying to make some sense of it all
I have read this site many times and left reflections I prayed that I would never have to do it for one of our own but today that day has come

Rest in peace brothers you will never be forgotten
