Reflections for Police Officer Scott Alan Wertz

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

On behalf of the Spring Twp. police department we would like to offer our prayers to the family and co-workers of officer Wertz. I have had the privelage of meeting numerous officers with the Reading police department and know the kind of dedication and devotion the bring to the job. We are saddened to see a hero taken in such a cowardly fashion and pray that God will help all of us with healing.

What words have we to describe times like these? None, I fear; for those outside our profession can never understand the sacrifices we make to protect those we love and those we've never met. Be assured brother, that your family in blue shall never forget the stand you took to make the plight of the citizens of Reading more bearable. Rest brother, rest. Your day is done.

May your soul rest in peace. You were always smiling. This city is taking a turn for the worse and we plan to make a change for a safer Reading for everyone. This young man who shot Scott Wertz should've been arrested a long time ago. It is a shame that he had to take another life to get arrested, what makes it worse, an officer. I'm deeply sorry. Many blessings.
