Officer Green:

The career you chose is the most noble, but also the most dangerous. Rest in peace knowing you are a part of the biggest, most loving family the world has ever known and the evil that descended upon you has been avenged by your brother officers.

To those you left behind, I offer my sincere condolences.

Officer J. N. Taylor
Hubbard Oregon Police Department

My thoughts and prayers are with Officer Steven Green's wife, children and family. As someone who knows/is friends with quite a few Mobile officers, and a close friend to one who trained another Mobile officer who's life was cut short in 2009, things like this really take a toll. Being close keeps all of the MPD, as well as every other officer on the streets trying to make things right, in my mind every day.

Some people get a ticket and get pissed at someone just doing their job (often a thankless one). When I get a ticket (and I do), before they walk away I shake their hand and say 'thank you and stay safe'.

Steven and I worked together for several years as Patrol Officers with the Mobile County Public School System. He left us to join Mobile PD, a job he was really excited about. My sympathy goes out to his wife, children, family, and to his fellow Officers of the Mobile Police Dept. God bless you, Steven, and may you rest in peace.

Alabama State Constable, Mobile County Precinct #65

Every day our lives, are put to the test
Especially when law enforcement, is laid to rest
We fight a battle, every single day
Making right the wrong, in each and every way.

We spent a lifetime, I can confess
Doing all we can, to be our very best
The fight for justice, we’re on one accord
Every battle we face, is observed by the LORD.

Through all our hurt, through all our pain
Though we lost one, many we gained
Roll call is over, another tour complete
Life’s pursuit of happiness, rest at GOD’S seat.

The court of appeal, will make its case
Ruling our comrades, are in a better place
Knowing mercy and grace, was at their side
Their lives live on, although they died.

New orders came down, causing a tearful cry
Re-assigning my friends, to GOD’S precinct up high
I believe in my heart, they’ll patrolling still
Walking heavens grounds, doing GOD’S will.
Amen

Prayers to the family, friends and co-worker, we will never forget Officer Green's scarifice or the scarifice that you have to make each day that Officer Green is not here on earth with you. Just know that he will always be in your heart, and mind no one can take that away. You will miss him everyday, a community and country has lost a hero. But he will be remembered by many in years to come. We will never forget.
