"Policeman's Prayer"

When I start my tour of duty God,
Wherever crime may be,
as I walk the darkened streets alone,
Let me be close to thee.

Please give me understanding with both the young and old.
Let me listen with attention until their story's told.
Let me never make a judgment in a rash or callous way,
but let me hold my patience let each man have his say.

Lord if some dark and dreary night,
I must give my life,
Lord, with your everlasting love
protect my children and my wife.

Officer Green, I was working the day it happened. I was being given play by play of the events that were unfolding. After finding out the suspect was not coming our way any longer, my shift watched the live TV footage hoping the informtion we were being told wasnt true. Sadly it was. I later rode my motor in ur motorcade and I must tell you in all of my 14 years I have never seen so many citizens come out to show their support for you, your family and your brothers and sisters of the Mobile Police Dept. It was very nice to see that. Your loss was not for nothing. Policies are being changed as we speak across the nation, especially here along the coast to prevent another tragic loss. In death you have saved more lives then you will ever know. Officer Green rest assured we will take care of your family and thank you for saving countless lives in the future.
