The death of Deputy Sheriff Ronnie Smith touched our family in several ways. My nephew, Brannon "Cooley" worked with Ronnie and also attending Abundant Life. My husband knew Ronnie from playing ball with him on Abundant Life's ball team. Today when Brannon told us about his death, we found out that the Smith family is our neighbor. Today on the way home from church...a Butt's County Officer was standing guard at the end of the Smith Family's drive. Very sad. Our prayers go out to this family. We know the danger officers face every day. They put their lives on the line for our safety every day. R.I.P. OFFICER SMITH.....

You were one of the nicest, most respectful and thoughtful LEOs I've worked with in 20 years of public safety. Your size of nearly 7 foot tall made you stand out in a crowd of people. Your actions, professionalism and sense of duty made you stand out among your peers, everywhere. You were a true asset here in Butts County. We will miss you here. Rest in Peace.

It is so difficult to understand why a good young man would be taken but maybe God just had work that couldn't wait any longer and Deputy Smith had to go do it. May God Bless all of you.
