Officer Smih was known to the community as 69, because of his height. He was always very professional. He was a graet Officer and will be sadly missed.

Though we have never met Ronnie, I know you. I know you deeply miss your family, but you are glad it was you rather than a fellow brother in blue. It is how we all feel doing what we have chosen to do.**** To The family of Ronnie Smith****, We too have never met, though I love you all. A void has been opened in your lives, but with the strength of god and freinds it will heal. Never completely perhaps but enough to carry on as Ronnie would want you to. May god keep you strong and try not to find blame, but rejoyce for death is not the end, just the beginning. Amen..........

Deputy Smith, words cannot express how much you will be missed. I always felt safer when I came to work at night & saw you were on security patrol. My thoughts and prayers are with your family both personal and through the Butts County Sheriff Dept during this time of grief. I want to thank you for making us all feel safe and watching over us here and in heaven. As I always told you, I thank you because not too many people have it in them to lay their lives on the line for complete strangers, and you did that everyday. I appreciate all you did and still do.
Take care and be safe!

Deputy Smith was a very Smart Individual. I remember him well in mandate school and it hurts to think about his passing. Smith was a highly motivated individual during mandate school, and I can only imagine that it carried over into his work. Deputy Smith.. I know you were a Strong Christian Man and I know that you will be watching us as we carry on the work. Thoughts and Prayers to the Family, Co Workers, and Friends of Ronnie Smith

Officer Smith went above and beyond the call of duty! A few months back my house was broken into and things were stolen. The police report was missing some details and Officer Smith redone the police report twice and then went out of his way to bring me the report late one night so that I could have my meds replaced the next morning that were stolen. I remember him being very helpful to make me and my roommate feel better. About month later he seen me in the square and went out of his way to say hello and ask how we were. Alot of Butts County officer could learn from his humbleness and his helpfulness. Its a sad and tragic accident that has left all of us that encountered him sad. God Bless his family. He will be truly missed from us, the citizens of Butts County.
