I never knew you,
But we are brothers,
I never met you,
But we are brothers,
Our paths never crossed,
But we are brothers,
I have never patrolled in your town,
But I know we have been on duty together,
I’m a cop in another TN town,
And we are brothers.
And as a brother,
I feel the pain,
I feel the hurt,
And I feel the sadness that only a brother can undergo.
The sacrifices that each of us make and made everyday is nothing compared to the one you have accepted.
One that everyone one of us is aware could happen
Any day, any moment, any second.
You have made me proud,
You have made my job easier because
I will be more aware.
I will be more cautious
And I will never forget you.
May God hold you in his hand and have you rest in peace.

I did not know SGT. Chapin but; I saw him Saturday morning on his way to the crime scene in his patrol car. My heart was racing as I heard the gun shots all around me. It takes a great man of faith with no fear to go into law enforcement and a man of courage to go into a shoot out when most would run the other way. Thoughts and prayers to all in this time of sorrow!

Sergeant James Timothy
thank you sir.
as i worked a wreck someone watching the other truck load a car hit me and smashed me between there car and my truck.
chapin cut the tires of the car to give me breathing room.
he stayed by my side the hole time with a hand on my shoulder.
thank you sir.
after getting back to work i got to try to thank him.
he would have none of that and thanked me for always getting to wreck locations so fast to get him out of the middle of the road.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time. We as wives never know if our husbands will come back at the end of their shifts.. this resulted in a wife's worst nightmare. My heart breaks for her and their children. God be with you.

Whenever a fellow Law Enforcement Officer falls in the line of duty, I place their name, agency and EOW date on a board in our office beside a photo of our badge with a "thin blue line" mourning band. It is my small way of honoring and remembering their service and sacrifice and sharing it with my fellow agents. When Tim's Uncle, my step-father, CSM Henry Chapin called us Saturday morning with the tragic news, our hearts immediately went out to the entire family, but we also grieved for his fellow officers who we knew where hurting beyond belief. We thank you all for putting on the badge and going into harm’s way by his side, not just on Saturday morning, but every day he served the citizens of Chattanooga. As we stood alone in the darkened hallway of our office Saturday evening and added Tim's name to the board, we ended our prayer for him with what we hope can be said of us all someday when our watch is over..."Job well done brother, be thou at peace."
