Reflections for Police Officer Andrew Scott Dunn

I made contact with an individual riding on a bike, back in March. It was consentual, around 0100 hrs.. Party conscented to a search and he had a handgun on him. He was cooperative
and charged with being possession, of a concealed weapon. The Commonwealth Attorney, relayed that they were going to continue the case, because the defendenrt wanted to try and get his concealed weapons permit and the charge would later be dismissed. Can you believe that crap. Oh yeah, the prosecuting attorney, is named Eddie Nicholas and he now prosecutes in Richmond Va.. I feel soory for any officers, who have him to handle there cases. It shows that nobody cares, we do our jobs and this is what happens.

Miss seeing your smile Andy. I think about you daily and my heart is saddened with the thoughts that I will never get to see it again.

Hey Andy it's been a while since we all worked together at the cedar point police dept...9 years ago none of us would have ever imagined we'd go through this. As we all came together to say our goodbye,we realized how much of a family we all were, even though the years and the distance. The night after we laid you to rest we packed the fop hall just like we use to pack the dutch after shift. as we were leaving, i put my arm around teresa. we were walking down the stairs and I told her "when we walk out of here, that means all this is real." none of us wanted to leave that night because when we left we were one friend short.

we love you brother and even though you are gone there are still new Andy stories being made because you keep bringing us together

2083 you are missed

I miss you, brother...everyday it hurts as much as it did yesterday. I come here to this page almost daily and I still can't believe it everytime I read it. Every night at work I wait to hear your voice on the radio and it never comes. Everyday I look at your facebook to see if you posted and there is nothing there. I don't know why I can't believe you are gone...I look for small signs that you are watching from Heaven, and I see those. I just wish this was all a bad dream..I love you, Dunnsky..I'll see you again.

May you rest in peace, Officer Dunn. To the family, I a incredibly sorry for your loss. I was born in Bellevue, and now live in FL. Our department has also felt the loss of several of our own and in neighboring counties. It is an incredible loss of true, blue heroes.

Andy,

I just wanted to thank you for introducing me to Julie. As you know she is one of my closest friends. For her, Caleb, and Connor my heart aches daily. I promise that Rob and I will be here for whatever they need. We miss you and think of you often.

P.S.
We took the kids to play today...Caleb, Meadow, and RJ had a bunch of fun as they always do. Little Connor just can't wait to join in.

Hey Bro, i'm not sure why I keep leaving reflections and also writing on your Facebook page...I guess it makes me feel like I am able to talk to you a little more. I have not yet been able to wrap my mind around this whole thing, I guess deep down in my gut im just not ready to let you go, though I know I eventually have to. You were one of my closest friends, one who knew all my deepest darkest secrets, ones that I knew you would take to your grave, I just didnt know it would be this soon. Our children will still grow up around each other and I ASSURE you they will never lack for attention, because right now they have about 45 of your brothers and sisters who will make sure they grow up the right way. I miss you everyday and everyday I expect to wake up and this all be a dream. Maybe some day I will be able to come to grips with this, until then, I will continue to mourn you...love you bro!

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Dunn. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Andrew, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Andrew's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Andrew's life was about so much more than the way he died. Andrew will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Dunn, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been eight years and he's still very much missed and forever loved.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

Andy I will truly miss you. I have been finding myself in short moments of weakness since you departure. My heart aches every time I think of your two small children and wife who will be left without a father and husband. I shed unmanly tears when I think of the father and mother who were left without a son. Sisters without a brother and a city without a hero. I love you brother ,you will never be forgotten. RIP 2083.

We are truly saddened to hear of this tragedy. This story is extremely similar to our own situation. Our 23 year old son was shot and killed Dec. 1,2010. He too wanted to follow in his dads footsteps. We tried to discourage this career choice but when he made the selection, we supported him. Bless your family and may you find peace in time. It is the hardest thing we have ever had to endure and still take it day by day and sometimes minute by minute.

Mrs. Dunn, my heart aches for you and your family during this time. Please know that there are police wives everywhere praying for you and your family. Everytime our officers take the streets I pray they return home to their loved ones. Often times people do not appreciate the police because they are "the bad guys" giving out tickets, arresting people, and so on. However, who is the first person that someone wants to call when they need help? The police! They simply do not get enough respect for what they do day in and day out. Know that your husband was a hero in my eyes and in the eyes of hundreds of thousands of police wives across this nation. Hugs to you and your family along with my continued prayers and thoughts.

Officer Dunn, to think, if this punk had simply stopped and spoken to you, you both would have been on your way in just a matter of minutes. Who can tell for sure, but this piece of garbage decided it was best to kill you. I'm dumbfouned.

You were too young to be taken from the people of Sandusky, the law enforcement family and your immediate family, much too young. I know in my heart that you will never truly leave your family and as long as they keep you in their hearts and minds, you'll always be with them. You are a hero and all who have lost you are in my prayers. Everyone, is in my prayers.

God Bless and may you forever Rest in Peace, Brother.
