Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Deputy Sheriff Suzanne Michelle Hopper

It saddens me to know this has happened to you and the pain in your family's heart will hurt forever. Also, it pisses me off when a cowardly punk can pull a trigger so easily and put that pain into a family. I was proud to see you partners laying down the lead like they did. We are all proud of you for putting yourself in harms way and giving your own life, just trying to make America a safer place for us to live. Thousands of your Brothers and Sisters who work the streets daily will take it from here. So go on and find yourself a "Daddy-Hole" turn the radio up, take your shoes off and get some rest. We'll cover for ya.,

We not only lost a very dedicated Deputy, but a very great friend. I have had so much fun working with Deputy Suzanne Waughtel Hopper, she was my back up officer so many times, and Deputy Hopper always had that beautiful smile that could calm just about anyone. Suzanne you fought the great fight and no it is our turn to take care of you and your family. We all will greatly miss you and so many never got to have a chance to say good bye. Well Suzanne this is my good bye to you. Having had the oppertunity to work beside you has made me be a better person and has been very rough this week but just to let you and your family know we are all here for each other.

I moved to this area and started my new career in law enforcement and did not know a single person. Suzanne befriended me and even though she was not that much older than myself, she "mothered" me. I will miss her more than words could ever express. Even though we did not talk as much anymore, I knew she was only a phone call away at any moment if I needed anything. My heart goes out to her family. Please try to take some comfort in how many lives your loved one touched. She truly was something special. Suzanne, I will never forget.

Officer Hopper responded to a minor call at our home a few weeks ago. She was pleasant, businesslike, informative--and she went out of her way not only to find out the facts of the case but also to recommend ways of increasing security at our home. She was just great. What a loss! Our community is much the poorer for her absence. My heart goes out to her family. We owe so much to our law enforcement professionals!

I was so sorry to hear about the loss of Deputy Hopper. I can't get this tradgedy off of my mind.
I am living my dream through all law enforcement officers, I am 35 years old and have wanted to be a police officer since I was 7 but could not pass the pushup part of the test.
I want to say thank you very much to all of you who put your life on the line each and everyday to protect and serve.

This could have easily been any officer out doing their job. How tragic that someone sorely lacking self-esteem (a sleezeball no doubt) could have been such a coward. May God bless your family and take care of them, RIP.

The coward took your life without any remorse, you were standing a line in the sand that few take on, we will continue on in your memory and with the solace of knowing the suspect met his end and hopefully will pay for this act of cowardice for eternity.
