Dear Officers Spicer and Brittingham,
I never met you, yet my heart is heavy and broken with your loss of life and tragic events. Please know that I am grateful for your devotion to others and true selflessness. It is hero’s like both of you that save many of us in our community’s everyday when we call you in our time of need. Both of you are treasured brothers who I will always hold in a sacred place in my heart! I truly wish with all my heart I could have protected both of you somehow or helped in any way in your time of need. I truly thank God for people like you who in an instant are willing to risk everything to help a complete stranger whether they are grateful or not. No one knows the true burden all of you carry while on duty and now, unfortunately, the ultimate sacrifice. Both of you are finer and more precious than any words could express, you have my dearest admiration forever. God Bless both of you, your families, and your work family! LR

Chad... you are a great man, father, friend, and officer. I will always remember you for the way your smile could light up the room and the laugh that was like no other, all the great times we shared, the late night/early morning 10-1 checks that resulted in the phone calls because you would never answer, and the ways you were there for me. Its hard to comprehend that you are gone. I know together we all will get thru this. I dont believe as a person you would want us to be sad, but to remember the good times we all shared with you! God knows we all had pleanty! You are a good man and only the good die young.

"Just Another Man"
He looks in the mirror every morning and night,
Does he see what I see, it would be nice if he might.
He sees a rude man as he stands there,
I see someone who needs someone to care.
He sees a mean man, because he has to be tough,
I see someone who deals with more than enough.
He sees how he tries not to cry and feels he has no heart,
I see someone who has to keep his feelings and work apart.
He sees a murderer because he shot someone last night,
I see someone who saved someone else from a fight.
He sees a failure because he did not arrive in time
I see someone who did his best and needs peace of mind.
He sees just another man as he enters the day,
I see a special man who does his best in every way.
For all the years, he has put on the uniform of blue,
He has never realized how much he protects me and you.
But, as he starts the day again, I just wish he could see,
What he really is and how much he means to you and me.
