Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Andrew Francis Tingwall

My thoughts and prayers go out to Sgt. Tingwall's family for this tragic loss of their beloved Andy. I did not know him personally, but am a friend of his grandmother Nana Tingwall, and his "like a sister" Kris Patecek and their family here in Slidell, Louisiana. They are all grief-stricken about the untimely death of their hero relative, who died helping others. May God bless and comfort the Tingwalls.

Andy,
We first met when I was teaching Officer Survival at the DOE CTA to your recruit class. We chose you for the Sherman Toler Award at the end of Officer Survival, all the instructors agreed you possessed the makings of an outstanding police officer. Your subsequent live / career justified that award a hundred times over. You were always one of my favorites, a shinning star in the law enforcement community and an terrific human being who I am proud to call a friend. I will miss you. God bless and keep your wife and daughters.

I have had the chance to work with Sgt.Tingwall on a few search and rescue trainings and on a few search and rescue missions, he was such a great and nice person and had such a passion for flying and was always a pleasure to be around and work with. He is gone but he will never be forgotten by any of us!

Our Hearts go out to the Tingwall family and friends, we are all thinking about you and keeping you all in our thoughts and prayers!

A warrior has fallen and the angels of Heaven, while weeping, welcome him Home. Greater love hath no man than to lay down his life for another. Rest easy, my brother, your sacrifice will not be forgotten. We have your back. I pray that the Supreme Watch Commander accept you into His glory. I pray for comfort for your family and comrades.

I am proud of Sergeant Tingwall. The mission was a noble effort to save the life of another. Our missions are often dangerous - we know that - Sergeant Tingwall knew that - yet I am sure he did not hesitate in heading out to the aircraft. That says a lot about the type of man he was. My heart and my prayers go out to his wife and daughters - Grieve, but be very proud of him.

To the family, friends and co-workers of Sgt. Tingwall, Please know that the federal law enforcement family grieves with you as well. What harms us one, harms us all. He was the hero we should all aspire to be and may God show him, and the hiker he was attempting to save, all the comfort, joy and love that awaits in heaven.

We grieve with you at your loss. Sgt. Tingwall sounds typical of the men and women of the New Mexico State Police; selfless, professional, courageous, and caring. To the family of Andy, his loss is not in vain, as anyone who lays their life down at the altar of freedom and in the perfomance of duty, lives on; they will not be forgotten. To the NMSP, others will pick-up the baton and finish his race until the day when we weep no more and evil is vanquished forever.

Rest in peace brother,

Sgt. Tingwall,
I kept following the news and hoping that you would be able to be rescued alive...I'm so sorry for you family. You obviously were being a real TROOPER up to the very end by getting the other person out of the wreckage after going down. Your family will be in my prayers as they struggle to find healing & peace. May God wrap his loving arms around them and carry them through the days ahead. Rest in peace trooper, you will never suffer again.
