May you rest in peace Brother. We'll look out for your family down here. You will be greatly missed. You were the guy who would give someone the shirt off your back and help them put it on while giving it to them.

Mark was a great police officer and an even finer human being. He will be greatly missed by his Brothers and Sisters of the Frederick Police Department. He gave his life doing what he loved, protecting and serving the citizens of Frederick. Mark your wathc may have ended, but your memory will always remain. Rest In Peace my brother we will take it from here.

"The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

May God be with this officer's family.

To his wife- Your husband will never be forgotten. A man willing to put his life on the line to protect our community never could be. There are most likely no words to make this any easier for you, but I hope that our community's thoughts and prayers and gratitude for a man so brave, do somewhat ease your pain.
I believe that your children will honor your husband's memory everyday and I know that he will be watching over you all forever. I am so so sorry for your devestating loss. May God help you to find peace and serenity in this incredibly difficult time, and may He always allow you to feel your husband's presence in your hearts.

Thank you for your dedication to him and his passion; it was what allowed him to be so dedicated to protecting our safety. Although he may have left an empty place in your home, he will never leave your memories or your hearts.

You will be in my thoughts and prayers as long as you need it, and you will have the eternal gratitude of the entire community forever.
Thank you.
May God help you to feel your husband's presence everyday, he will never leave you.

All of my love, thoughts, and gratitude,

We cannot express our love for Mark. He always smiled, hugged, worked his tail off at what he did. He was my favorite little league catcher and linebacker. Our pride when he made police officer, was awesome. His Aunt Mag, his cousins, Kirsten, Lionel, Caleb, Patrick, Tori and I will miss him terribly.

Our love always,
