As a resident living in the S. Sac area, I commend the gang task forces for their determination despite the risks involved. Thank you for making my neighborhood as safe as it can be. It is because of all of you that we have what we have. Officer Nguyen will be greatly missed, as I have seen him and his fellow colleagues speaking to and arresting "possible" gang members etc. in the neighborhood. Thank you to all Law Enforcement.

Our hearts all sank when we heard the news. My thoughts are with his family. It is amazing how everyone comes together when we loose a part of our family. Vu keep watch over us from above.

"A Part Of America Died,"
Somebody killed a policeman today,
And part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect,
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights.
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids,
And spend many long lonely nights.
The beat he walked was a battle field too
just as if he had gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
In your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And stands at each new rookies' side.
He answered the call,of himself and gave his all,
And a part of America died.

Vu,
I can't believe it's you Bro. I remember the early years at Sacramento State when you first Rushed Sigma Pi. I was proud to have you as my Little Bro. We had some great times together. Working together at Sac-County Probation after graduation was a blast. I was proud of you when you got picked up by the S.O.'s. To say you will be missed is an understatement. You were the type of friend that everyone wanted to be around. You made us all laugh with your jokes and impersonations. I am truly a better person for knowing you. God Bless you and your family, I will see you again Brother.

I graduated with Deputy Nguyen from the Sacramento Sheriff's Academy. Vu always had a smile on his face and inspired all around him to do better. Although I haven't talked with him in a long time I am honored to have known this man who made the ultimate sacrifice. Rest in peace brother.

Each time I hear sirens I pause to pray for all the professionals who "protect and serve" communities across the nation ... and for the familes of of our heroes.

Little did I know that when I first saw the breaking news yesterday, I was praying for a childhood friend of my son.

I know Vu Nguyen's life made a difference. The lives touched by him will carry his a part of him always.

From the mother & mother-in-law of deputies, I offer my tears. My peace and memories comfort you.
