My condolences to the family, friends and co-workers of Deputy Nguyen. Sac S/O has had a rough couple of years. I was very sad to hear that they had lost another one. My agency lost an officer earlier this year and I can definitely relate. Just from what I've read I can tell Vu was a good person. Remember the good times and keep his memory alive.

Deputy Nguyen,

Thank you for your fight against gang members and all of the destruction and violence they employ. Your brothers down here to the south of you will continue to bring the fight back to them. Your co-workers cut the freedom of your murderer short...you would've been proud. Rest in peace sir, and may God bless your family, friends and brothers at the Sacramento County S.O.

Vu was an incredible person and a dedicated and compassionate officer. I valued his friendship and respected his integrity and work ethic. From the times we shared in the academy as classmates to our partnerships in various work assignments, I will never forget his contributions to my life and the community he served.

I pray his loved ones find peace and comfort through Christ.

The power who pities man has shown
A blessing for the eyes that weep

The light of smiles shall fill again
The lids that overflow with tears
And weary, hours of woe and pain
Are promises of happier years.

There is day of sunny rest
For every dark and troubled night;
And grief may bide, an evening quest,
But joy shall come with early light.

For God hath marked every day of sorrow
And numbered every secret tear,
For heaven’s long, age of bliss shall pay
For all his children suffer here.

Deputy #434
Sacramento Sheriff's Department

At the beginning of his career with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, Vu served as bailiff of Superior Court Judge Patrick Marlette. That is when I first met Vu. He was always respectful and courtious. Soon he became a close friend along with his partner, Deputy Oscar Munoz. I will always consider Vu as a member of our family.

Vu's commitment to his family, to the Department, and to the community reached much further than the points of the badge he wore with pride.

To his family, it is with heart felt sorrow, we mourn with you and your loss.

He will be truly missed, but always remembered by all of us.

David Rios, Sr., Court Clerk

I would just like to thank you for the work you do on this page and this memorial to Vu Nguyen.

He was a phenominal Deputy, even more so, he was a phenominal person. He was the embodiment of team work, devotion to his friends and partners and dedication to his profession.

While it sounds like a cliche, Vu was truly a rare, exceptional indiviual.

I truly feel honored to have had the opportunity to have known him. He will be sorely missed!

Brother VU

I remember several years ago when I last saw you in Sacramento, you took the time to stop by and see me even though we hadn't talked in years. You had been on the SO a few years at that time and seemed truly fulfilled. From the day I first met you in college I knew you would make a difference in what ever you did. Your loyalty, dedication and friendship always left a lasting impression on me and still stay with me today. You will always be remembered by your family, friends and brothers. My condolences to your wife and family. Love You and Rest in Peace.
