Officer Cassidy,
With this job comes day after day of not knowing what will come next. Will it be a traumatic car accident, a domestic, a shooting or simply helping someone who is lost find their way? You never know. In your case, after 25 years it was a robbery in progress that you had no idea was occurring. You were shot for what you and the uniform represents, a committment to take action and stand up for what is right. Your assailant knew that a man like you would not let him get away and that is why he fired. You were killed for what you represent and you and your loved ones can be proud of that. Those who wear the uniform of law enforcement or soldier know that at anytime and in any place they could be called to make the ultimate sacrifice, yet, they put on the uniform day after day. That is why you are a hero, you chose to take a stand and did it proudly. God bless you, it is your time to rest. The rest of us will pick up the torch and carry on the good fight.

***For those who are close to Officer Cassidy's family, DON'T smother the family for a few weeks and then disappear. They'll need you more in the months to come once the initial shock dissipates.if for nothing more than just to "listen".

A POLICE OFFICER'S PRAYER
Lord I ask for courage

Courage to face and
Conquer my own fears...

Courage to take me
Where others will not go...

I ask for strength

Strength of body to protect others
And strength of spirit to lead others...

I ask for dedication

Dedication to my job, to do it well
Dedication to my community
To keep it safe...

Give me Lord, concern
For others who trust me
And compassion for those who need me...

And please Lord

Through it all
Be at my side...

THANK YOU, Chuck, for your dedication and service to the Philadelphia Police Department. THANK YOU, Chuck, for being my Brother. THANK YOU, Chuck, for being a loving son, brother, husband and father to your family ... and most of all ... THANK YOU, JESUS, for giving us CHUCK!
May you rest in peace "Brother" until we meet one day on the "streets of gold" and share a toast to our chosen profession of law enforcement. And to all who knew, and loved, Officer Charles Cassidy, may you find comfort in our Lord Jesus Christ in this time of great sorrow.
Love in Christ, Joe

I had the honor of knowing Officer Cassidy and his family, and it grieves me at his passing. Philadelphia lost a true hero. His family and friends have a right to be proud to have known such a good man. All our lives are better for having known him. For Officer Cassidy, your joyous reward now awaits you. May the peace of the Lord Jesus be with your family and friends as they mourn your loss. Our consolation is knowing that we will meet again, and at that time there will be no more tears. God Bless you!

It hurts my heart to hear that another police office has lost his life in the line of duty. I can honest say that I know how the family feels and my prayers are with them. Poilce office take a chance everyday when they leave their loved ones that they might not be returning. It takes men and women with strength and courage to perform this job. I commend all of you that put your lives out their to protect and serve this city. To my dad and office Cassidy, I know that you did know each other while you were still with us, however I know that you will be good friends when you meet in heaven. Good Bless!

All because you were doing the job that you loved so much so well day in and day out. Every night and every time I see something related to your death I pray for you and your family. For justice and that the "human being" who brought this pain to our city and your home suffers just long enough to realize what a waste they are in this world. I owe my life to P/O Valentino. God Bless You! God Bless The Philly PD!
