"If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded." -- Maya Angelou

Aloha Trooper Brian McMillen,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.

I believe in the ODMP and Police*Link that visionary and Founder Chris Cosgriff created. There is power in the written and spoken word, in prayer, in what is felt in the heart, and in the soul. Every tribute left in honor for a fallen officer, is a candle lit. Every candle lit, lights another.

Every light represents a reflection left by an individual in the form of a tribute which is and always will be, very personal and special to the fallen hero it was left to honor, and to thousands who will read it. Here we are able to come together and build a quilt for our fallen hero. A quilt built from people who share from their hearts in reflections; tributes.

Trooper Brian McMillen,
I wish you, your loved ones, and your fellow officers peace and love beyond all understanding. Aloha.

**May all who read this tribute find comfort in this Hawaiian prayer left in this hero's honor. You will NEVER be forgotten. May God allow you to rest in His eternal peace.**

THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"

Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,

The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.
Ka Maluhia no na wa a pau, no ke'ia wa a mau a mau loa aku.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,
Ha'awi aku wau I ku'u Maluhia ia oe, waiho aku wau I ku'u Maluhia me oe,

Not the world's Peace, but, only My Peace,
The Peace of " I ".

God bless you Brian, you were an exceptional state trooper. It was just a few years ago in 2004, when I first met you in our criminal justice class at UIS. From there I had the pleasure of getting to know you and having additional classes together through out the next few years, not to mention the CRJ Honor Society we were a part of. I did not realize you were had become a trooper until I saw you here at Meijer, eating breakfast with your co-workers. After talking with you at the Qik n Ez that same morning, I thought to myself, if anyone deserved to be an Illinois State Trooper, it was you. I heard the news this morning and could not believe it. I will miss you as will many other people that have known you. My prayers go out to you, your wife and your family!
