It was a pleasure to have worked on the same watch as you Lee. Thank you for giving the ultimate sacrifice so the rest of us can sleep safely at night. My prayers are with your family.

Lee was a guy that any person would love to work with. With his odd yet hilarious sense of humor, he could make any negative situation turn to the positive. I hope that the others that knew and worked with Lee will remember all the times he made us laugh and was willing to jump in and help with our problems.

Sgt. Newbill was a wonderful man. Even though we were just grocery store employees, he would always stop and say hello when he would come into the store in the mornings. Every time he walked past me he would always say hello, ask how I was doing, and tell me to have a wonderful day. He was a great guy and will be missed.

Lee and I worked together at the Call Carl Exxon on Route 50 in Fairfax County, Virginia from 1978 to 1980 or so. These were the days when full service was fading and self service was gaining in popularity. Lee was always ready to serve. I'll never forget Lee running out the door in an attempt to be the first one to the pumps to help a motorist. I remember one day when a woman at the self serve island picked up a can of oil, Lee tapped it for her and she proceeded to pour it into the gas tank. We stopped her and then instructed her where the oil needed to go. Lee and I enjoyed black powder target shooting and talking about history for hours. When Lee left for Idaho it was a sad day but I was joining the Army and Lee soon followed. I didn't know Lee had joined the Moscow Police Dept. but many ex-military do join law enforcement. So when I watched the Sunday news regarding what happened I quietly thought about Lee; it wasn't until the next day I read the very, very sad news. I've been thinking a lot about the times Lee and I spent together the past few days and realized it was just natural for Lee to rush to the assistance of any one or any situation. I still can see Lee running out the gas station door as he must have run to the emergency in Moscow. Lee was a good man, a good friend, and someone who made a difference. Although we had not talked to each other in some time I knew I had a friend in Moscow, Idaho and I still do. His memory will live on with me always. Goodbye good friend. "Airborne"!!! Bill Pfeifle.

Lee was my classmate at the Meridian POST Academy. He was nothing short of a bright and cheery guy! He was positive and constantly encouraging. A true family man with good morals who will truly be missed by all. Thank you for giving your life for others Lee. May God be with his close friends and family.

You are a true hero to our community. While I did not know you personally I frequently saw you around the town of Moscow...always with a pleasant demeanor and someone who truly served and protected his community.
