It breaks my heart that someone in their prime, so full of life and promise had to be taken so suddenly and violently, and at such a young age (my same age especially - that really hits home).

In a day in time where everyone seems to be talking about the state of the world, few are actually doing something about it. Trooper Brinkerhoff you stepped up to the plate and did something about it, as men and women in blue do everyday. You are a shining example of bravery, courage, dedication to service and your fellow Troopers/Officers.

May your family, friends and fellow Troopers (esp. MRT) know and take solace in the fact that though your time here on earth was short, it was a lot worthier than most. They can take pride in the fact that you are not just a hero because you died, but for they way that you lived.

Rest in peace with honor, as you tour is over, but not done with. NYSP and you brothers and sisters in blue will continue to fight the good fight,for it's what they live for and sadly, sometimes it's what they die for too. It's a price know one should have to pay for such bravery.

The next time I here a bell ring, I will know that the blue wings are yet again being awarded and to whom the recipient will be.

To the Family and Friends of Trooper Brinkeroff,

My prayers go out to you. May you find peace and know that he is a hero.

I leave this for you,

TITLE: I DO NOT CHOOSE TO BE COMMON
It is my right to be uncommon----if I can.
I seek opportunity---not security.
I want to take the calculated risk.
to dream and to build, to fail adn to succeed.
I refuse to barter incentive for a dole.
I prefer the challenges of life to the guaranteed existence;
the thrill of fulfillment to the stale calm of utopia.
I will not trade freedom for beneficence nor my dignity for a handout. I will never cower before any master nor bend to anhy threat. It is my heritage to stand erect, proud and unafraid; to think and act for myself, enjoy the benefit of my creations and to face the world boldlyand say, this I have done. All this what it means to be an American. "MY CREED" By Dean Alfange

To you True Americans/Heros God Bless

A Brother in blue
