As I read about the death of Officer Bryan Tuvera, I became angry and deeply saddened. I also learned from a news article that Officer Tuvera's family is no stranger to the law enforcement community, his father and his wife are also members of the elite group. I was taught at an early age never to question God and a couple of years ago I found myself questioning why would he allow things like this to happen. A friend responded by saying, "If you were God and had the ability to pick who must make the ultimate sacrifice, would you pick all of the bad people. It's like picking flowers, if I told you to go out to my flower garden and pick you some flowers, as you looked down at the flowers, would you pick the ugly ones or would you pick the most beautiful flowers in the garden." As I thought about this statement I began to understand why we loose beautiful people like Bryan. To the family of Officer Tuvera, we are with you during this day and the days ahead. The nation thanks you for sharing Bryan with us, now Officer Bryan Tuvera can continue protecting all of us from above.

Brian-
I will be thinking of your wife tonight and for many nights to come. The SFPD has lost three wonderful officers this year but that is nothing to the father, brother, husband, son and friend that their families lost. My heart bleeds for you all. Please know that there are so many people out there who will think of Bryan and the job that he was doing and be happy to know that there are people like him out there.
I have only heard good things about him--quiet guy, really nice guy, dedicated professional. May he rest in peace.

A prayer in memory of Bryan..

"God bless my family when I am away,
Leave the lights on I'll return from harms way -
Grant me courage and strength to protect others each day,
So they live in peace without worry, fear or dismay.

Bless those who have fallen,
Given their life for another
May their spirit live on from then and forever..

Return me home to my family at the end of each night,
May I pass through the door before the morning's first light.

Shall I give my life for another before the dawn breaks today,
God bless my family when I am away."
