Reflections for Police Officer II Landon Michael Dorris

It was a great honor to have known and worked with you Landon you will be forever missed and never forgotten. The city of Los Angeles lost another great Warrior early Sunday morning. Everyday Landon had his mind right when he stepped out into his office. He was ready to take the fight to the gangsters and preditors at all times.

We will make sure your fiance and boys are well taken care of. Your boys will know that their dad was a true Hero and Warrior. Your family and Partners up in Northeast are in my families prayers.

We will take the fight from here brother and you give us some back up from above.

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Dorris, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Here I am, lost in the light of the moon that comes through my window
Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you and the roses

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Here I am, lost in the ashes of time, but who wants tomorrow?
In between the longing to hold you again
I'm caught in your shadow, I'm losing control
My mind drifts away, we only have today

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way
I will sacrifice 'til the blinding day when I see your eyes
Now I'm living in your afterglow

When the veils are gone as I let you go, as I let you go

Touch me and I will follow in your afterglow
Heal me from all this sorrow
As I let you go I will find my way, I will sacrifice
Now I'm living in your afterglow

Bathed in blue, the walls of my memory divide the thorns from the roses
It's you who is closest

We miss you dearly brother. You know it's the little things we miss the most...smokes and coffee at a 7-11 at 4am, watching boxing or mma on a friday night, or just winding down on the back dock at the end of a shift. Northeast will miss you brother. True warriors and good friends like you come once in a lifetime.

Landon it seems like yesterday that we were joking and laughing when we worked for the CHP. I remember the excitement you had as you moved on in your career to the LAPD. You are a true hero and you have a good heart. The comfort I get is remembering our conversations and knowing that you accepted JESUS CHRIST as LORD. This transition (which we all must face one day)is not the end you will live forever(John 3:16).

It was a privelege to have known you and I look forward to seeing you again someday. I am praying for your family and I know that GOD will comfort them. I will say bye for now and I will see you when I get there:)

Landon, you were an outstanding officer! Your energy and motivation was infectious. Your sense of duty and work ethic was amazing to watch, even if you did ruffle some feathers along the way. None of us were suprised when you Lat moved to LAPD. You always did want more out of your career than just hooking drunks, taking wrecks and writing tickets. It's just a sad irony that you were killed working a crash. Rest in Peace brother we will miss you.

In memory of our partner, our friend, Officer Landon Dorris, we will never forget!

Just Remember Me

When you carve my name
Into that hard marble wall,
Please don't let my name ever be
A name that you can't recall.
Just remember me
A man whose heart was true,
A man who proudly wore
His badge and the blue.
Just remember the daddy
Of now a fatherless boy,
A gentle son
A mother's pride and joy.
The loving man
Who held his wife under a moonlit sky,
A strong man
Who knew how to cry.
Please don't let my name
Die with me too,
And just remember
I was proud to wear the blue.
