Reflections for Trooper Joseph Anthony Longobardo
Joe,
I just want you to know there isn't a day I don't think of the sacrifices you made for all of us. It saddens me to think your birthday is approaching (May 24th)and you are not here to celebrate with your family and friends. You are always in my thoughts, and my prayers. May GOD always keep your family SAFE!!! Thanks for all the memories we shared!
With much love,

Dear Trooper Longobardo,
I never met you but was affected greatly when I heard of the shooting. I pray for your wife and son because I know first-hand how hard it is to deal with everything. The brotherhood that you guys have saved me, and my son did the most for me. I became friends with some of my husband's coworkers which was quite a bonus. Friends and family become more important after someone so dear to us leaves. Priorities change. When I learned that your wife was a teacher and you had a son, it felt like "deja vu". I'm also a teacher and have a son and lost my husband on August 17, 2005. I know that you are keeping an eye on your family from above and are helping your wife with the sorrow she is feeling, the same with my husband. You are angels!!

Joe, You're name has brought smiles to so many. I was with a dear friend of yours when I heard the news of the shootings. We prayed for your life, but I've come to learn that God took you away from us because he knew you'd done you're time in Hell. We love you, and miss you.

Joe and I served together as Marine Embassy Guards in Islamabad, Pakistan back in 1995. He was one of the best human beings I have ever had the honor of being around. He was the Marine that most others wished they could be, he was an extrodinary person with a big heart. I am saddened by his tragic murder, hopefully justice will be served harsh and swiftly. Joe, you will be missed. Till we meet again, Semper Fidelis. Andrew "Doc" Dockery

Aloha Trooper Joseph A. Longobardo,
Thank you for your service and dedication to your community and your country. You and all officers that continue to lay your lives on the line and pay the ultimate sacrifice to keep our communities and country safe, will NEVER be forgotten.
I personally pledge, (after one of Hawaii's own, Honolulu Police Officer Steve Favela, lost his life in the line of duty protecting our Commander in Chief, President George W. Bush), to become a continuum of the ODMP light. That light is in the form of an ODMP tribute. People from all walks of life, regardless of age, race, religion, profession, education, and geographical location can share here. That "LIGHT" comes from within the heart and soul of every person who cares to share a word or two on behalf of each and every fallen officer. Every fallen officer is an hero. The ODMP; Officer Down Memorial Page gives us a place to come together and share our feelings as one family. May we find comfort as we give comfort to the families who have lost a loved one.
As we say in Hawaii, “We are`Ohana.” We are family. God Bless this fallen hero. May we embrace him as one of our own family member; our `Ohana. No one will ever be able to replace you for you were unique and very special. No one; not in this lifetime. May God allow you to rest in His Divine peace.
Trooper Joseph A. Longobardo, I wish you, your loved ones, your fellow officers, and friends, peace and love beyond all understanding.
--- May this Hawaiian prayer give all those who read it comfort. ---
THE PEACE OF " I "
KA MALUHIA O KA "I"
Peace be with you, All My Peace,
O ka Maluhia no me oe, Ku'u Maluhia a pau loa,
The Peace that is " I ", the Peace that is "I am".

The Peace for always, now and forever and evermore.

My Peace " I " give to you, My Peace " I " leave with you,

Not a day goes by that we don't think of those two fateful days, August 31st and September 3rd. And not a day goes by that we don't think of Teri, Louis and your entire family. Devastation has certainly taken its toll on the NYSP community this year. We will never forget. Rest in Peace.
