My sister and I met Joe after the 9-11 attacks, in lower Manhattan. He was a kind man, and we really enjoyed the brief time we knew him. May he rest in peace knowing he made a positive impact in many lives.

On the 3rd anniversary of Trooper Longobardo's death, we honored his service in our patrol briefing by reading his entry from ODMP. Each day, we honor one fallen officer on the anniversary of their death so as to keep them in our thoughts, and also to remind us of the dangers inherent in our job. Trooper Longobardo is not forgotten.

Hi Joe,
Thinking of you and your family especially today during the holidays. If there was one wish that could come true it would be for you to be here with all your family and friends, especially for your son, and to have the opportunity to see your son grow-up! I know you are looking down and keeping an eye on everyone. Miss you and thinking of you always!
Love,
Shari

Surfing the web today and found a site with you on it. Still have a great shot of you giving Jeremy a breathilizer test up at the camp, along with a shot with you holding Louie. It's on the fridge and will never come down. Great memories of you Joe - always. Keep things in order up there bro, we'll see you one day. Merry Christmas Joe.

Hi Joe, Took Louie to do some Trick or Treating. He was a Little skunk this year, as you would say when he was "stinky". He had so much fun and entertained everyone! Wish you were here! Love Dawn

I remembered being on duty when I heard Joe had passed away from his injuries. I was shocked to see his photo on the major news networks. It truly broke my heart. Joe and I attended high school together and eventually graduated in 1992 from Amsterdam High School. We both decided to join the U.S. Marine Corps. He left for boot camp a month before I did. I had not heard from Joe since the day he left for boot camp until this awful tragedy had occurred.

Brother you will be truly miss by your friends, colleagues, and family. I want to send my regards to the Longobardo’s family. I am truly sorry for your lost.

For all the brothers and sisters who happen to serve under the thin blueline including myself, we have lost a true brother. Semper Fidelis! He had served his country and community with great honor. God bless Joe and his family. He will always be remembered.
