My heart goes out to Officer Skerski's Family. My husband and I have 2 children and whenever people ask them about what their dad does they say "He is a Police Officer and he helps people." Officer Skerski was helping a business owner by responding to the robbery call and helping the citizens stay safe when he was taken from his loving family, department and city. Rest in Peace Officer Skerski.

It broke my heart today to see your beautiful children following behind your casket. It isn't fair. Your kids should only be worrying about exams and summer vacation starting. Not burying their DAD.I promise not one of us will rest until he's caught and dealt with. God bless your wife and children. Stay strong little ones.

We are so sorry to here about your tragic loss of a loved one in law enforcement. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you in support. As we personally know, sometimes there is little comfort that comes from words. Keep focused as you can on the memories and joyous times for these things may bring you comfort. Rely heavily on family, friends, and other law enforcement. Honor your fallen loved one, for their sacrifice will not be forgotten.

I never met the man but just hearing about all the great things this man did for his family, his community, and his fellow officers, makes us all question, WHY? As the saying goes, "Only the good die young"! May this hero who was off duty at the time, rest in peace and forever be in our thoughts and prayers!

My department also lost someone this same day to a coward's bullet. May you rest in peace. I will offer up the lyrics to a song written by Vince Gill:

I know your life
On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain
You weren't afraid to face the devil
You were no stranger to the rain

Go rest high on that mountain
Son, you work on earth is done
Go to heaven a shoutin'
Love for the father and son

Oh, how we cried the day you left us
We gathered round your grave to grieve
I wish i could see the angels faces
When they hear your sweet voice sing

GOD'S SPEED GARY

We first met many years ago in the PDU, and I remember you were always friendly and had a smile on your face every time we met. I first learned about the shooting from a old HWY friend, who had just left Temple Hosp. 3 hours later, I heard on KWY that you had passed. I am so sad of your passing, this department has lost one fine and outstanding Officer. You will be missed not just by your wife and kids, but by every member actived & retired of the Philadephia Police Department, and by the few good people of this city.

You and Danny can now walk a beat in heaven together.

Again GOD'S SPEED, and May the Good Lord protect you for ever.
