I HAVE KNOWN GARY FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS AND I AGREE WITH WHAT SGT MCGROTY PREVIOUSLY STATED. EVERYTHING BEING SAID ABOUT GARY IS THE TRUTH, HE WAS "THE REAL DEAL". GARY WAS DEDICATED TO HIS FAMILY. HE WOULD CONSTANTLY TALK ABOUT HIS KIDS, WETHER IT WAS SPORTS OR HOW WELL THEY WERE DOING IN SCHOOL.

GARY REPLACED ME AS THE COMMUNITY RELATIONS OFFICER IN THE 15TH DISTRICT IN DECEMBER 0F 2000. HE WAS WELL-LIKED BY THE COMMUNITY AND WAS A NATURAL FOR THE JOB. FORMER CAPTAIN TOM HEALY AND I JOKED ABOUT HOW GARY WOULD TAKE THAT JOB TO ANOTHER LEVEL. HE HAD A WAY WITH PEOPLE AND COULD RESOLVE ANY PROBLEM WITH HIS STERN BUT SOFT SPOKEN WORD.

I COULD GO ON BUT I THINK YOU GET THE POINT, HE WAS A GREAT GUY AND "THE REAL DEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU ARE SADLY MISSED, BUT YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!!!

HAWK (FORMER P/O JAMES HEALY)WAS WAITING FOR YOU, YOU ARE IN GOOD HANDS BROTHER.....

Gar, I just wanted to say thanks for always looking out for me. When I was a rookie, you took me under your wing and never stopped looking out for me. Even as the years passed and our assignments changed when we would run into each other it was like we just finished up a tour together. You touched more people's lives than one could ever imagine. You never looked for credit or acknowledgement. You just did it your own way every day. You made your mark on this job, one that will never go away. You were one of the few remaining "old school." The saying, "He was a Cop's Cop" doesn't even do you justice....you were more. THANK YOU

Many, many great things were said about Gary's dedication to duty, his willingess to help, his commitment to his family and his community following his tragic death at the hands of a coward. Often, people say things about the departed that may not be accurate or may be a bit embelished.

However, knowing Gary for years and being a former co-worker in Center City, the opposite things are true in this instance. The great things said about Gary in the wake of his death are only the tip of the iceberg of waht a truly great man, husband, father and public servant he really was. The accolades bestowed upon him tell only a fraction of the story.

Rest well Gary, your duty is done (and was done well)

To the family, friends, and officers that knew Officer Skerski, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Then the rainstorm came, over me
And I felt my spirit break
I had lost all of my, belief you see
And realized my mistake
But time through a prayer, to me
And all around me became still

I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Through the rainstorm came sanctuary
And I felt my spirit fly
I had found all of my reality
I realize what it takes

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Well I try to say there's nothing wrong
But inside I felt me lying all along
But the message here was plain to see
Believe me

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Love can help me know my name.

MY HEART GOES OUT TO OFFICER SKERSKI'S FAMILY. HE WAS AN ANGEL DOING A GOOD WORK FOR THE LORD AND I KNOW THAT GOD'S ANGELS ARE PROTECTING HIS FAMILY. To the Skerski family and the PPD,
Please accept my deepest sympathies on the passing of PO Skerski. My thoughts and prayers are with you as we share in the pain of loss. Two more angels entered heaven on Monday, taken far too soon from this earth by cowards. I am deeply saddened, but know you have answered a higher calling and will be walking the thin blue line with Vicky Armel.
God Speed to your family and department, and
justice will be served.
Peace and love.

The saddest day I have ever had in my life. Officer Skerski didn't have to be there that night but he was. He was there protecting the people of this city, most who don't apprecitate a Police Officer until they need one. But he was there on his day off working when he could have been with his family. Gary be assured that when the Highway Patrol finds this piece of garbage it will be a quick trial.
