Your sacrifice will not be forgotten sir. I did not know you but I have a feeling that you would have still done a hero's job even if you would have known the outcome would be so tragic. That is what makes a hero a hero. Thank you sir.

Reality

Imagine how our world would be
If every police officer quit
Turned in their gun, turned in their badge,
Just finally had enough of it.

No respect, no loyalty,
No appreciation of all they do,
They’d give their lives for all of us,
These wonderful officers of “Blue”.

Kicked at, spit on,
Punched, stabbed and shot,
Everyday assaults on officers,
Done…without thinking a second thought!

Our laws are in favor of criminals,
There’s always some loophole in their case,
Out again to commit more crimes and murders
…creates pain, that we, the family and friends
…in time will never erase.

Why should they do it?
Why take the risk?
Why put their life on the line?
Subject their loved ones to endless suffering,
When their precious life is lost while fighting crime.

More murders, more kidnappings, more robberies and rapes,
Just to mention a few,
Please ask yourself how life would be,
If there were NO officers in Blue!

Would you do it? Could you do it?
And for how many…would YOU give it all?
Rewards are a 21 gun salute, a Medal of Honor,
And your name gets added to the Wall.

Think about it. Why are they here?
And why do some hate them so?
Because they enforce the laws that put convicts and murderers
In jail serving time, or on “Death Row”.

All give some and some give all,
It’s a risk they chose to take:
To put their heart and soul in it,
To put their lives at stake.

So, please take a moment,
Please give it deep thought,
Think of what “you can do”…

To help show respect,
To help follow the laws,
So we’d quit losing our Heroes in Blue!

The horror of 9/11 still lingers as strong today as it did then. A time in history when men and women of true character and sense of duty stepped up, and gave it their all. Some - everything.
Det Zadroga and all others taken by this disgusting episode in time are all true hero's.
My most sincere conlodences to family, friends and co-workers.
To all overseas brother members of the NYPD - Godbless.

"I will go, Lord; If You lead me; I will hold your people in my heart"

part of the refrain from one of my favorite hymns of the Catholic Church. I think it's very fitting. Countless PO's, FF's, EMT's, and Paramedics died as a result of the attacks on 9/11, doing just that. Tending to their civilian brothers and sisters.

May their sacrifice NEVER be forgotten.

May your soul, and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in Peace.

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying,
"Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?"
And I said, "Here am I. Send me!"

A true hero is measured by the actions taken in life. Detective Zadroga is, and will be forever remembered as a hero. May God Bless your soul, Detective Zadroga. God will have a true, dedicated, hero to patrol the streets of heaven.
One day you will be there to meet us fellow officers that will follow you into the gates of heaven, and if we maybe so blessed we will shake your hand and thank you for your dedication to the job.
May god wrap his loving arms around the family, friends, and fellow officers to comfort them in this enormous loss.
Our hearts and prayers go out to the men and women of the, NYPD. Though we may never meet nor may we know your names, we feel your loss, and forever we will open our thoughts and prayers to our brothers and sisters of your agency.

Sincerely Yours,

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

My heart goes out to the family, friends, and coworkers of this fallen hero. Detective Zadroga exemplifies what it means to dedicate your life for the safety of others.

We need to ensure that Det. Zadroga, along with all the others who gave their lives on 9/11, will never be forgotten. Let us never forget how our country pulled together, even if only for a short while. And let us never become complacent in our lives, that this could never happen again. But should it, we would recover due to the many selfless acts by heros such as Det. Zadroga.
