To the family and friends of Detective James Zadroga and his fellow officers in the New York City Police Department:

I was so saddened to hear on today's news of your tragic line of duty death which occurred because of your heroic actions on September 11, 2001 and the many days you devotedly worked at Ground Zero, not knowing that you were becoming deathly ill because of the toxic environment. My heart breaks for your family.

Words are insufficient to describe how profoundly I mourn your loss. Your valor, dedication, and courage will never be forgotten.

May your family be comforted by their law enforcement family and other police survivors. May God hold you in the sweetest part of his heart and the most gentle part of his soul.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Detective James Zadroga gave to his community and the citizens of our country, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 11, 2001 and January 6, 2006 and the intervening years.

Det. Zadroga,
You are a true hero and I am relieved to see you memorialized here, and your tragic death finally recognized as-In the Line of Duty. Your daughter and family will be taken care of; and she will know that her Dad made the ultimate sacrifice for the families of those victimized by the 9/11 attack. You along with countless officers and volunteers sacrificed their health to assist in not only rescue/ but the recovery efforts. This effort was crucial, to ease the suffering of so many families. God bless you brother; you and your family will remain in my prayers forever. God Bless you and comfort your loved ones.

Detective Zadroga,
You did an amazing job in an extreme situation. Some who read entries left on this site have no idea what it is like to do the job we do, and criticize for the slightest of infractions. Others wonder why we do this. And yet we continue on. You are a hero with a child who will no longer have the opportunity to grow up like other children and parents who know the grief of losing a child. Rest in peace. They will be taken care of.

April 12, 2006

my dear brother it is not bad enough that you must be effected but what was seen at Ground Zero but then you yourself were hurt from it. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families effected by these attacks.

ITS NOT HOW THESE OFFICERS DIED THAT MADE THEM HEROES ITS HOW THEY LIVED!
