Rest in Peace, Brother. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten. Through your diligence and devotion, you have earned your place in Paradise. Stand tall and be proud to serve an eternal beat alongside some of the greatest warriors of justice, who were called Home before you.
Pass the sword now and we will carry it with honor, pride and integrity as we continue the battle here.
Keep watch over your brothers and sisters at NYPD and all of those you love and leave behind. Let them feel your presence as they fight the fight and bring them safely home to their families.
May you find comfort in God's embrace.

Although I never knew you, I cried when I learned of your death. The average citizen has no idea of our dedication to the job and citizens of this city on and off duty. An ideal society would have more "Daniel Enchautegui's" in it to rid our communities of such trash. Danny, may St. Peter grant you express entry to the gates of Heaven while all others must wait in line and plead their cases. May God grant peace and serenity to your family, partner, co-workers and extended family. You will be missed.

This is my shield.
I bear it before me into battle,
but it is not mine alone.
It protects my brother on my left.
It protects my city.
I will never let my brother out of
it's shadow nor my city out of it's
shelter.
I will die with my shield before me
facing the enemy - Spartan warrior
at Thermopylae.

At the hospital, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly praised the young officer for his ''bravery and dedication" in confronting the burglars while off-duty.

''He did everything he could, just as he was trained to do," Kelly said. ''For the second time in two weeks, we witness almost incomprehensible courage of a police officer."
