All police officers are special... they have to be to become one. Don't know very many people that would risk their lives to protect others. Officer Enchautegui, rest in peace.

Although I no longer live in NYC, I am thankful for you dedication and loyalty to the greatest city in the world. You kept the streets safe for the rest of my family, who still live there. I am eternally grateful to you. Born and raised in NYC I have missed the city every day since I have left. I think about the NYPD and its officers every day as I put on my own uniform. I pray for every officer out there and I am so sorry that you are gone. But, you died a hero, doing what you believed in and what you lived for, so rest in peace brother, rest in peace. Tonight and every night, when I put my own uniform on and get in my police car, I will think of you and pray for you and your loved ones.

Daniel you are a true cop. You didn't just come home to lay your badge and gun by your bed for the night. Even off duty you reacted as if still on that tour for the day. We are 24/7 365 and Daniel is a reminder of that. Rest in peace to you and your family.

Officer Enchautegui,
Your brave actions will strike a chord with fellow Police Officers around the World. You made the ultimate sacrifice, but on another day it could easily be anyone of us. We are all "24 hour-a-day cops", our responsibility for fighting the fight against evil does not stop when we clock off duty.
Your family, friends and colleagues will be proud of you, and quite rightly so. You are a true hero, and an inspiration. Rest in peace.
