On behalf of the men and women of the Palmview, Texas Police Department, we'd like to extend our heartfelt sympathies to the family of Brian Jackson, as well as to his extended family at the Dallas PD.

I just spent several days in Dallas last week attending the Airborn Law Enforcement's Central region Safety Seminar which was hosted in part by the Dallas Police Department. All of the folks we had the opportunity to meet were quite hospitible from Chief Kunkle down to the community officer. To have the tragedy happen the day after we left this fine city really hit home with me. I hope all of the kind words and thoughts expressed in this forum will somehow console Bryan's family and friends. He will not be forgotten.

"Father, we know not what we face with each shift we take. Guide our eyes so that we may be ever vigilant. Steady our voice so that we may comfort those we are sent to serve. Keep our hands firm as we enforce the laws against those who wish to harm. Protect our families for we know not when we might see them again. Help me, for I walk the streets of Hell. Into your hands I commit my soul, my spirit, and my life. Amen"

As a new member to the D/FW area police family, it is hard to imagine a loss such as that of another officer. May you rest in peace and watch over those who walk in the footprints you left behind.

"THE MONUMENT"

I never dreamed it would be me
My name for all eternity
Recorded here at this hallowed place
Alas, my name, no more my face

"In the line of duty" I hear them say
My family now the price will pay
My folded flag stained with their tears
We only had those few short years

The badge no longer on my chest
I sleep now in eternal rest
My sword I pass to those behind
And pray they keep this thought in mind

I never dreamed it would be me
And with heavy heart and bended knee
I ask for all here from the past
Dear God, let my name be the last
