I am saddened by your loss of a brother

I've worked patrol in Denton for 12 years and although I've been lucky to never have had to experience the loss of one of our officers it's still very painful to learn of any officer's death in the line of duty, especially when it's a DFW area officer(these really "hit home"). Most people don't have a clue what it means to be a dedicated police officer and the bond we share, regardless of the agency we work for. I just want Ofc Jackson's wife, family and friends to know that their grief is shared by more people than they will probably ever realize and that Ofc Jackson's sacrifice is dearly appreciated by those of us who knows what it truly means to stand between the criminal dregs of society and the good citizens we serve. My deepest and most sincere condolences to all of you. Jason Kolba

Somebody Killed A Policeman Today

Somebody killed a policeman today, and a part of America died. A piece of our country he swore to protect will be buried with him at his side. The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
with counsel demanding his rights, while a young widowed mother must work for her kids
and spend alone many long nights. The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too.
Just as if he'd gone off to war. Though the flag of our nation won't fly at halfmast, to his name, they will add a gold star. Yes, somebody killed a policeman today. It happens in your town or mine.
While we slept on comfort behind our locked doors, a cop put his life on the line. Now his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street, and he stands at each new rookie's side. He answered the call and gave us his all, and a part of America died.

on sunday night 11-13-05 i was honored to work Brian's beat on Greenville Ave. Within minutes i was swarmed by citizens whose life's Brian had affected. Some just wanted to express condolensces, other to share a story of how Brian had helped them. Some people were in shock, others in tears. Its obvious Brian was respected by the people he worked with, but he was also loved by the people he worked for. He will be missed, but never forgot.

Honored to have partnered w/ Brian

Brother Jackson,
You have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect a community of people whom very few you knew. Most people will never understand how officers like yourself can put your life on the line to protect others from harm. You are a hero and role model to us all, your bravery, passion, and your ultimate sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Brother we will await for your return home to "Rhode Island" where we will honor you as the true hero you are!!
Brother your watch is over, please watch over us now and keep us safe as we try to be as brave as you are!
To my brothers and sisters of the Dallas Police Department I offer you my deepest sympathies and prayers.
To Brian's wife, the men and women in "Blue" will always be here for you. I am truly sorry for your loss!
God Bless you!
