I am sadden that another one has fallen. I am deeply sympathetic to the wife of this fallen HERO. I wish that it was so that the job of a police officer was not such a dangerous one. However, it is very dangerous and it takes a special kind of man or woman to give of themselves to serve and protect. It is the ultimate sacrifice to lay down your life for others. May this Servant and the many other fallen brothers and sisters NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. God Bless the family of Officer Brian Jackson may he keep them closely by his side and protect them as Brian Jackson would want them to be protected.

I met Brian & JoAnn when they were adopting a puppy from our animal rescue group. Brian crouched down to meet Buster for the first time & my most shy (& scared of men!) foster dog went right up to him, tail wagging. I knew right then he was good people! I only knew him for a brief time, but Dallas has truly lost one of it's finest. My heart goes out to JoAnn & his family. I know one day Brian will be there at the Rainbow Bridge to greet Buster.

What did this individual hope to gain by killing this officer? We know what he lost, his freedom, maybe his life later on and possibly his soul. For what?
The only thing that IS known, even by someone like myself who never had the pleasure of meeting Officer Jackson and who lives thousands of miles away, The City of Dallas and more so, the Jackson family suffered a cruel, senseless and unnecessary loss. We, the extended family mourn as well.

So long as the memory of Officer Jackson is alive in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him, he'll never truly be gone.

God Bless and Rest in Peace.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"
