Reflections for Police Officer Molly Suzanne Thomas-Bowden

While visiting this web-site to get the correct phone number, I came across the web-page dedicated to the memory of Officer Bowden.

Although, I did know her, I am succumbed with intense sorrow over the culmination of her death.

My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.

Molly,
We miss you dearly. Your life and death has taught us so much. So many times I have cried tears of sadness and of anger. But I know that you are were you have always longed to be and that gives me peace. I pray that you will continue to watch over our men and women in blue and keep them safe. Your laugh and love of life will not soon be forgotten.

How sad it is when we lose an officer in the line of duty. I sat and reflected on what a remarkable woman you must have been. Not only being a police officer but as a woman who took on a husband with 2 young kids. My wife, a deputy, married me and in doing so took on an instant family too. What sacrafice she and you made to be a protector of society and a mother of a family. You truly inspire me and I am proud to call you a HERO in every sence of the word. May God bless you and your family. Rest in Peace Molly and thank you.

I am looking in the mirror as I see your face and read your stats. I will carry your name and photo with me each tour as a reminder of the potential danger in each situation. Thus, you will continue to protect and serve, even in death. Know that you will not be forgotten. Rest in peace, Sister. We've got the line now.

Molly,

It was truly an honor to have had the opportunity to work with you. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about your smiling face as we passed each other in the hall. I know you are in a better place with God, but you are still very much missed here. God rest your beautiful soul. Lesley

Molly,
We can't say enough to thank you for what you did for us. I wish it didn't take such a terrible tragedy to make us appreciate the danger you faced every day. I hope someday there will be a memorial in your honor, but with or without that, you will never be forgotten. You brought Columbia together like nothing else could have. We came to know you and value your service as you lay in the hospital struggling for your life. Though most of us never met you, we all felt as though we lost a friend that day. I think of you often, Molly. Your death left a void in Columbia and while it seems so unfair, I know deep in my heart that you're no longer with us because God needed you more. There couldn't be a better person patrolling heaven for us.

My heart goes out to Corey and the boys and the rest of your family and friends as they try to go on without you. May they always know that you are watching over them. God bless you Corey, and good luck at your new post as resource officer. Please help the children understand and respect law enforcement so Molly's legacy will live on forever. Best wishes to all of Molly's family and friends. Your struggle and sorrow was made very public, and while we know that must have been very difficult for you, we thank you for sharing Molly with us. She touched so many hearts and lives, and she will never be forgotten.

Thank you Molly, and thank you CPD for your continued service. God bless you all, and please be careful out there.

A grateful Columbia citizen

My sincere condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Officer Bowden. My heart broke for all of you when I read her story. Though I did not know her, I know that she was a very brave woman, and loved by so many people. I am so sorry to hear about your loss.

I know and understand the pain of losing someone you love so deeply. I lost the love of my life, Josh Blyler, almost a year ago. He was my everything. Josh was a hero to me and so many others, just like Molly. There aren't any words that can be said to take away the pain. Reflect back on all the wonderful memories that you all shared with Molly---take comfort in the love you shared. She will forever be in your hearts, just as my Josh is in my heart.

God bless,
Kelly

I am not normally an emotional person. I did not know Molly but heard of this loss through another website asking for support. The entire nation is wounded when we lose an officer. My sympathy to the surviving friends and family.

This story has touched so so many, not only near, but far away. I have followed Columbia newspapers since June of 2004. I had a dear sweet friend that lived there and went to school there. I am a Dispatcher and have grown up in law enforcement. My father was a Police Officer for years, and now works with the judicial system. As I followed Columbia news each day I watched as this nightmare unfolded for Molly, her family, and the entire Police Force. My whole agency knew about Molly and were constantly asking for updates. It was to my complete and total dismay that I read on-line from my console that Officer Molly Bowden passed from her injuries sustained in the line of duty. I quietly cried and wondered how things like this happen. Just from reading stories about her, I wish I could have known her. She absolutely sounded like the epitome of an honest, hard-working, dedicated, and sincere Officer, friend, wife, daughter, step-mother, and human being. Shortly after Molly passed away, as I worked in the Dispatch center alone, one of our officers took his own life in the parking lot next to the Police Department. I know it is a completely different situation, but the loss of our officer has shook our very foundation. Each day we are reminded that he will never serve our community again and we feel robbed and confused. It seems that Columbia has been robbed of a devoted servant and ray of light. As my heart can never know your specific pain and void, know that we are all thinking of you here in Danville, Ky. Molly's story has touched me and I will never forget her legacy and beautiful face.

I went to high school with Molly and always remember her smile and how she helped others. She died doing what she loved....helping others and protecting them. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

To other officers, thank you for all that you do and be careful. Know that there are those out there who pray for you daily and wish you the best.

HAPPY EASTER MOLLY

March 27, 2005

I followed Molly's Story closely and was saddened after hearing of her passing. I live near the scene of the accident and experienced it 10 minutes after the fact. I immediately worried, as there was so much commotion, hoping the whole time that it was not a fatal accident. After learning that an officer's life was on the line, I gained a new respect for law enforcement. Molly served the community and kept us safe for over three years. She died for the safety of the community and for that, I will be forever appreciative. While we are mourning her loss, others are rejoicing to meet her in heaven.

How truly unfortunate we as a people, tend to honor our finest and bravest on their passing. Officer Suzanne Bowden was taken from her family and friends while doing her job, a dangerous, stressful, often thankless job; the job of a hero, nonetheless.

Arthur Ashe once said "True heroism is remarkably sober, very undramatic. It is not the urge to surpass all others at whatever cost, but the urge to serve others at whatever cost."

Thank you Officer Bowden, for serving all of us. Go now with God, and may He bless your loved ones until they join you once again.
