Most loving God, you know the pain and sorrow of death; mercifully hear our prayer for those who mourn the death of Officer Bowden. The nights are lonely and the days are too long. Comfort them and bring an end to the days of tears. Bless them and bring an end to their days of sorrow. Renew them with the joy of life and bring to an end their days of mourning. Let the bond of love which you have for your people be the foundation of their hope that love never ends and that precious moments with our beloved are forever held dear in our hearts. Amen.

I was so honored to be one of the medical professionals at one of the local hospitals that Molly frequented while on duty. I came to admire her for her courage to be a female police officer and yet she always maintained such a caring and wonderful spirit.
I saw Molly after that tragic night and I will never forget the horror of that evening. Columbia lost a wonderful friend of the community and she is greatly missed. I will always remember her touch on the community and think of her fondly. God bless all the officers of Columbia police department and their hard work and dedication. And God bless the family and friends of Molly.
I will never forget her!

Cory,

I am so terribly sorry for the loss of your wife. It is so difficult to return to the job that you and your spouse shared. I know because I am an Oklahoma City Police Officer and my husband, Sgt. Jonathan Dragus, was killed in the line of duty on October 20, 2005. I have still not yet returned to work because it is just too difficult. He and I worked in the same division and the same shift. Other people may be able to return to work to try and get their mind on other things, but that is just not possible for you and I. I'm not sure how to return to the place where Jonathan will not be in line up, I won't hear him on the radio and I won't be able to meet him for our dinner break. You may be struggling with the same types of things.
Without ever even meeting you I feel like you come closest to knowing what I am feeling and going through.
Hopefully one day we may have the opportuniy to meet.
Although the time that you and your wife shared together was all too short, I believe that we will see our spouses again in Heaven. Try to find comfort in the fact that they are in God's perfect care now and they are watching from above. Lean on Him and He will carry you through. God Bless You!

Molly... I cried for you...for your family... for your co-workers... your husband and your step-children. I am so sorry. And also, so grateful... for heroes like you.

To Molly's loved ones, I pray that God holds your hand through this devastating journey of grief and healing... and carries you when you cannot walk on your own.

Be safe, everyone.

Cory~
I met you for the first time in September at the COPS Spouse's Retreat. I was thinking about you the other day and wondering how you were doing. I saw a wedding photo of you and your beautiful Molly in some of the online articles and it broke my heart. You two looked so wonderfully happy. It seems like there are so many of us, just getting started on what was supposed to be the most awesome journey of our lives when tragedy struck down our husbands and wives.
Please know that you are never alone Cory. There is a whole network of us that can help each other through the bad days. Although I never met your wife, I can only imagine how half of your heart is incomplete and missing. My heart aches daily for my husband as well.
Take care and please know that I am thinking of you and Molly's family.
God Bless~

"Who You’d Be Today"

Sunny days seem to hurt the most
I wear the pain like a heavy coat
I feel you everywhere I go
I see your smile
I see your face
I hear you laughing in the rain
I still can’t believe you’re gone
It aint fair you died too young
Like the story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away
God knows how I miss you
All the hell that I’ve been through
Just knowing no one could take your place
Sometimes I wonder who you’d be today
Would you see the world?
Would you chase your dreams?
Settle down with a family
I wonder what would you name your babies
Some days the sky’s so blue
I feel like I can talk to you
I know it might sound crazy
It aint fair you died too young
Like a story that had just begun
But death tore the pages all away
God knows how I miss you
All the hell that I’ve been through
Just knowing no one could take your place
Sometimes I wonder who you’d be today
Today (repeats 5 more times)
Sunny days seem to hurt the most
I wear the pain like a heavy coat
The only thing that gives me hope
Is I know I’ll see you again some day
Some day
Some day
