i wish i could have had the pleasure of meeting you just once. since that awful night in january, when i heard from my home the very shots that ultimately took your life, i have often wondered if there was something i could have done to have helped you. through all the stories i've heard about you in the last month, i know you must have been a very special person and you will be greatly missed among your family and brothers and sisters in the police department. i believe there is reason for everything that happens in this life, and i believe that even in death you still continue to serve columbia with your memory. you have taught us true bravery and courage, and for that i salute you.

My condolences to the family of Molly Bowden. I was touched by the poem that Molly's husband had written and wanted to return the sentament...

Sometimes we loose somebody
And it makes are hearts grow weak
The silence goes unnoticed
When you can't find words to speak
But keep them in your memory
And try to carry on
As long as you hold on to them
They're never really gone.
They're in your heart and soul
And every where you go
They're in your dreams and memories
And in case a tear should fall
They are there to catch them all.
So love them
And keep them in your prayers
Always remember them there
When the nights get lonely
And you don't know what to do
Just close your eyes
And listen close
'Cause they're standing next to you.

I will keep you in my prayers.

I personally wish to extend my deepest sympathy to the family, the friends and to Mollys' co-workers. Borders mean absolutely nothing. We feel your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are with you all during this tragic time. As members of Law Enforcement, we know no boundaries. Universally, we are all one very large family. Let us continue praying for each other every single day. It's a sobering reminder of who we are and what we do everyday and everynight. Be proud of who we are and what we do. Our hearts go out to the friends and family of Molly Bowden. Though many of us in the Columbia comminity did not personally know her, we are moved and saddened by this senseless tragedy.

I am most touched by the love her family demonstrated in the decision to let her go home to be with Jesus. Your faith in God - that He is now holding Molly in His arms - is a testimony to the love and trust you have in Him. Molly had the opportunity to step from this life into eternity - one Believers anticipate with great expectancy. Molly has run into Jesus arms and been able to say, "Thank You."

Molly and Charis are together and have joined that number that no man can number who will worship God forever. WOW!

Thank you for sharing your loss with us. Be blessed and fully rely on God.
My prayers are with you.

The tragedy that took place on Jan 10, 2005 will forever be in the hearts and minds of all Law Enforcement Officers. Molly Suzanne Bowden was a hero before this incident occurred and will be a hero long after we are gone. Believe that in the face of danger, she will be standing with us all. I believe that anyone who puts on a green, blue, brown or any other color uniform to Enforce Law and Order, is a Hero in life and in death. This incident has made the botherhood even stronger throughout. Rest In Peace sister!

Our sympathies to the Bowden Family and the Columbia Missouri Police Dept. We know what you feel because we lost a Warrant Officer on 3-19-04, killed in the line of duty while serving a warrant. When someone this young is taken away from us at such an early age I think of Dorothea Barwick's poem "God's Heavenly Garden":

Sometimes God picks the flower
That is still in full bloom;
Sometime, the rosebud's chosen
That we feel He's picked too soon.
Sometimes, the flower is fading
With petals floating down,
But God knows the perfect time
To gather flowers from the ground.
There is a heavenly garden
In which God takes great pleasure
Because He's placed within it
The loved ones that we treasure.
He walks among the blossoms
Giving them eternal rest,
And I know that it must please Him
Because he chose our very best.

Rest in Peace, Officer in Blue.
