Please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Thank you Sergeant Scarbrough for a job well done. Please continue to watch over us and protect us as only you can. You will forever be at our side and in our hearts.

For those of you who still have loved ones with us please take the time to tell them how much you appreciate and care about them.

IF I KNEW

If I knew it would be the last time
That I'd see you fall asleep,
I would tuck you in more tightly
and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.

If I knew it would be the last time
that I see you walk out the door,
I would give you a hug and kiss
and call you back for one more.

If I knew it would be the last time
I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise,
I would video tape each action and word,
so I could play them back day after day.

If I knew it would be the last time,
I could spare an extra minute
to stop and say "I love you,"
instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.

If I knew it would be the last time
I would be there to share your day,
Well I'm sure you'll have so many more,
so I can let just this one slip away.

For surely there's always tomorrow
to make up for an oversight,
and we always get a second chance
to make everything just right.

There will always be another day
to say "I love you,"
And certainly there's another chance
to say our "Anything I can do?"

But just in case I might be wrong,
and today is all I get,
I'd like to say how much I love you
and I hope we never forget.

Tomorrow is not promised to anyone,
young or old alike,
And today may be the last chance
you get to hold your loved one tight.

So if you're waiting for tomorrow,
why not do it today?
For if tomorrow never comes,
you'll surely regret the day,

That you didn't take that extra time
for a smile, a hug, or a kiss
and you were too busy to grant someone,
what turned out to be their one last wish.

So hold your loved ones close today,
and whisper in their ear,
Tell them how much you love them
and that you'll always hold them dear

Take time to say "I'm sorry,"
"Please forgive me," "Thank you," or "It's okay."
And if tomorrow never comes,
you'll have no regrets about today.

R.I.P. you wll be truly missed

February 19, 2005

I felt I needed to write to show my support to a fellow wife of a Police Officer. Being a Police Officers wife is rewarding and scary at the same time. The courage your husband shows by putting that uniform on, to serve and protect day in and day out because that is what they were meant to do. Always giving you a kiss before walking out the door because just by chance it might be the last kiss...As a Police Officers wife myself it's one of the hardest things not knowing if he will return, but the love for a man who was put on this earth to do good and put his life on the line to keep us safe, makes it easier to watch him walk out that door. I know Denise from the school where our children attend, she is a wonderful person. Michael was a devoted father, husband and Police Officer. He will be missed by all that knew him. May God Bless your family.

Uncle Mike,
You were one of the cousins that you can not replace. It's hard to believe it was you. I thought why did such a wonderful man like you have to go? Every time you guys came to visit we all had a blast with you. You always had that wonderful smile and was always having fun with us. I couldn't believe it when I found out. I think about you every day and think about how fun and cool you were. It was hard at the funeral. What I think everything they did you deserved because you are a very respected man and everybody respected you. I love you more than ever. Tell Uncle Allen I said hi.

Anyone who was fortunate enough to spend any time with Mike and Denise knows how truly special they are. The love and devotion they have for each other and the kids is something you just don't see very often. These are people you want to count among your friends but more importantly you want them to count you as one of theirs. Mike is the kind of guy you want your son to grow up to be, the perfect role model, a hero, someone to look up to.
He's the kind of friend that makes you want to be a better person. Someone you highly respect, admire and love. When I was first asked to watch the kids for Mike and Denise, when their work schedules conflicted, it was a validation of the trust they had in me and I was very honored by that. Denise, Kelsey, Josh and Mark you know I'll always be there for you, and you have my love and prayers. To everyone who's life Mike touched, we are all better people for having known this incredible man. Thanks Mike~I'm going to miss you.

May your troubled heart
find peace and comfort in the knowledge
that you are never alone.
May God's presence ease
your trembling spirit and give you rest.
He knows how you feel.
He is ever aware of your circumstances
and ready to be your strength,
your grace, and your peace.
He is there to cast sunlight
into all of your darkened shadows,
to send encouragement through the love
of friends and family, and
to replace your weariness with new hope.

God is your stronghold,
and with Him as your guide,
you need never be afraid.
No circumstances can block His love.
No grief is too hard for Him to bear.
No task is too difficult
for Him to complete.
When what you are feeling
is simply too deep for words
and nothing anyone does or says
can provide you with the relief you need,
God understands.
He is your provider --
today, tomorrow, and always.
And He loves you.
Cast all of your cares on Him...
and believe.

Scappy, I just want to say that i never heard anyone say anything bad about you. I want to thank you for being the officer and person you were. You were the type of person who you could ask you anything about the job and you would never make them feel stupid for asking. You made many great officer's at the airport who carry on you legacy. I am glad i had the honor to know someone like yourself. I am so sad you are gone because we are going to miss that smile and sense of humor of yours. I pray for you and your family everyday. I hope you look down on us and see how you impacted each and every officer that got to know you. God Bless Scappy i hope i turn out to be half the officer you were.

MIKE,
IT WAS AN HONOR TO KNOW YOU AND TO WORK UNDER YOU AT THE AIRPORT. I'LL NEVER FORGET MY FIRST DAY C. JOHNSON TOOK ME IN YOUR OFFICE FOR AN F.T.O. MEETING. YOU TOLD ME WHAT WAS EXPECTED OF ME AND MY CLASS. ONCE THE MEETING WAS FINISHED IT WAS LIKE I HAD KNOWN YOU ALL MY LIFE. WE EXCHANGED A FEW CRACKS AT ONE ANOTHER AND LAUGHED. YOU WERE A LOT OF FUN TO BE AROUND, AND I WILL NEVER FORGET YOU, NONE OF US WILL. YOU WERE THE PERFECT COP AND SGT. I WILL CHERISH THE THINGS YOU TAUGHT ME. I REMEMBER ASKING ABOUT THE PLASTIC BADGES FOR THE KIDS, CPL. GREEN WAS OUT OF THEM. YOU SAID COME TO MY OFFICE, AND TOSSED ME 2 BAGS. SMALL STUFF LIKE THAT AND YOU HELPED OUT. I WISH I COULD HAVE KNOWN YOU LONGER, BUT GOD HAD A CALLING FOR YOU. I KNOW HE WILL HAVE YOU IN CHARGE OF HIS TRAINING UNIT, ONLY THE BEST. THANK YOU FOR SHOWING US YOUNG GUYS THE RIGHT WAY. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

Scrappy,
You were there when K9 Brenda got hurt and some wanted to send her back to Texas. But, you fought for me to keep her home and get her better. Just before and during the evaluations you kept telling me "Failure is not an option". K9 Brenda looks for you everyday in your office for the dog biscuits that you would give her. God Bless. You are going to be truely missed.
