Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Rodney Lee Davis, Jr.

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.

To the family of Sergeant Rodney L. Davis and the Greene County Sheriff's Department, your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieves with you during this time. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around each of you and comfort you during this most difficult time.

To all my brothers and sisters, please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Please pray for this officer's family and friends as they struggle with this tragedy.
May God be with you every day, please remember, we are a part of the largest family in the world and when one hurts we all hurt.

Though our badges and uniforms may be different, our mission is the same. Rest in peace with our other fallen Brothers and Sisters. We will continue the fight in your honor.

Sgt. Davis, I wanted to take time out and reflect on the times that we have shared from the academy to our careers. The many lunches, laughs and jokes shared together and with our fellow classmates. We took a huge, life changing step together and have always kept in touch. You have been like a brother to me and I will forever cherish our friendship. I will always miss you! Gone but not forgotten! Rest in peace gcso 212

Family and friends,
As a survivor, we now have to learn to live life in a different way. Our goals and plans have all been shattered and suddenly changed without our permission. As you walk each day without Rodney walk knowing that he is encouraging you. Encouraging you to do the very best you can. There are going to be many times that the walk seems too difficult to go on but keep going! You now belong to a family that is strong and fights hard to not be victims to the killer of our loved one rather it be felonious or accidental. None of us wants to be a member of this "club" but since we have no choice, we will be strong for each other. We are always here for you.

I want to extend my deepest sympathy to the family, friends and co-workers of Sgt. Rodney Davis. I pray that you will feel God's comforting arms around you during this terrible time. My children lost their father in the line-of-duty on July 9, 2003, so I understand the pain and shock that you are feeling right now. This is such a tragic loss - - - but always be proud of Sgt. Davis and the contributions that he made to your community. It takes a special person to be a law enforcement officer. May God bless you all!

Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumns rain
I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in flight
I am the soft star that shines at night
I am the flowers that bloom by day
I am the fragrance of new mown hay
I am each blade of grass that grows
I am the rush of melting snow

Do not stand at my grave and cry
I am not there, I did not die.

Thank you for your sacrifice, may the Lord hold your family close during this, the most horrific of times.

Dear Warrior, I'm sadened to know that we have lost another officer in the line of duty. But, you did what you do because you chose it. You chose to walk the thin blue line between warrior and servant and your community is grateful for your sacrifice. May God provide your family with swift closure in their loss, and to yourself, fast winds to your next assignment in heaven, as you walk those streets under his command. A huge reward is awaiting you. In the meantime, please watch over us and the remaining peace officers that will continue the watch in your absence. Goodnight sir.
