Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Jerry Alton Mundy

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.
You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.

To the family of Sergeant Jerry Mundy and the Mount Juliet Police Department, your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieves with you during this time. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around each of you and comfort you during this most difficult time.

To all my brothers and sisters, please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in.
May God be with you every day, please remember, we are a part of the largest family in the world and when one hurts we all hurt.

Though our badges and uniforms may be different, our mission is the same. Rest in peace with our other fallen Brothers and Sisters. We will continue the fight in your honor.

MAY GOD BLESS FAMILY, FRIENDS AND COWORKERS. WHAT SENSELESS MURDERS COMMITTED BY (2) MISFITS OF SOCIETY. IN AN INTERVIEW ON A NASHVILLE TELEVISION STATION, YOUR SON CALLED YOU HIS HERO. I, ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS ACKNOWLEDGE THAT YOU AND YOUR FELLOW OFFICER ARE ALSO A HERO. REST IN PEACE MY BROTHER.

CHIEF RONNIE WATFORD-RETIRED
JEFFERSON POLICE DEPT,S.C.

REST IN PEACE OFFICER MUNDY. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE. I AM SADDENED TO HEAR THAT ANOTHER OFFICER TO BE TAKEN IN THE LINE OF DUTY. AT THE AGE OF 16 I WAS A TROUBLED TEEN AND LEAD AUTHORITIES ON A CHASE THE PERSON I WAS WITH ENDED UP CRASHING THE VEHCILE NO OFFICERS WERE HURT BUT I STILL CRINGE EVERYTIME I THINK I COULD HAVE GOTTEN AN OFFICER HURT OR KILLED. I HOPE THAT IF ANY ONE READS THIS THAT THEY WILL LOOK AT THE NEXT TIME THEY SEE THE LIGHTS AND SIRENS IN THEIR REAR VIEW MIRROR TO JUST PULL OVER AND LET THESE FINE PEOPLE DO THEIR JOBS. IT TOOK ME ALONG TIME TO APOLOGIZE TO THOSE I HURT BUT NOW I HAVE MADE PEACE WITH MYSELF FOR THE CRIMES I DID AND THOSE I HURT. MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND DEPARTMENT DURING THIS TRAGIC EVENT. YOUR MEMORY WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN BUT HONORED.

REST IN PEACE AND GOD BLESS.

On behalf of the men and women who serve and work for the Georgia Perimeter College Police Department, our thoughts and prayers are with Sergeant Jerry Mundys family, friends, and co-workers.

God Bless. Now you can walk Heaven's beat.

Officer Johns
Georgia Perimeter College Police Department

A brief moment of darkness
was all that I knew,
before Heaven's Gate
came into my view.

Loved ones and friends
I had missed for many years,
welcomed me with open arms
and many happy tears.

All the hurt, fear and pain
that I have ever known,
is gone from my life,
I am finally home.

I gazed upon the Lord's
sweet smiling face,
and for the first time in my life
I knew and felt His grace.

I know that you miss me,
but please dry your eyes.
I will always be watching and loving you
from my home in the sky.

A cool breeze on your face,
a touch of light rain,
I will send as a reminder
that we will be reunited again.

Life on earth is but one
brief moment in time,
I am finally home,
Eternity is mine

Rest easy Hero. Your job here is done. In your name and for all fallen hero's, we'll take it from here.

Our hearts go out to the family of Sergeant Jerry Mundy.

I read the newspaper report and saw it on the news and my eyes teared up...another tragic loss of life. I will pray for the family and friends of both officers.

Deputy Faith Hill
Shelby County Sheriff's Office

My heart goes out to the family, friends and co-workers of Sergeant Jerry Mundy. As a wife of an Officer and friend of many, I want to tell you how sorry I am for the the pain you are going through. It breaks my heart to know that additional officers lives were taken by careless acts and total disrespect for the law. I send my thoughts and prayers to you only one day after we laid to rest Dep Chuck Sease from Flagler Co So who's EOW was 7-5-03 at 3am. He made the ultimate sacrifice in the same way as Sgt. Mundy and Dep Musice. These officers risk there life every day for the safety and protection of each and every one of us. They are heros every minute of everyday and they will always be remembered as such. May you rest in peace Sgt Mundy and may God comfort the family and friends left behind to carry on.
