Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Sergeant Jerry Alton Mundy

My heart goes out to your family. I watched the news and each time an Officer is taken from earth I feel the loss of my brother over again. May he reach out from wherever he is and let his strength rest on your shoulders and give you warmth and strengthening memories.

Paula Lindsay
Sister to Downed Officer

This is just another reminder of how dangerous our job is. I hope the females involved in this tragedy pay for there crime. May God Bless you Sgt. Mundy and you family. You've done your share of over-time now it's time to relax.

Patrol Officer Chris J. Rohner
Licking Memorial Hospital Police Department Newark, Ohio

The policeman stood and faced his God,which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?
The policeman squared his shoulders and said.
"No, I guess I ain't because those of us who carry a badge can't always be a Saint."
I've had to work most Sundays
and at times my talk is rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...
though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got to steep.
And I never passed a cry for help
though at times I shook with fear,
and sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, but if you don't...I'll understand"
There was a silence all around the throne where the Saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman.
You've borne you burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets.
You've done your time in Hell"

Jerry-

I will miss mostly your smile. Even on my most bummed days you would make it brighter. Sorry to see you go, the way it had to happen, but remember you were doing your job, one you loved by helping your unknown neighbors. Jerry, you will be forever missed and loved, as others cannot learn from your wonderful job, but they will learn to carry on, by your beloved spirit. Your spirit will live on, to carry us and your family to our destiny, and until our day comes, look over us and show us the way. As we will look up to you in the heavens for guidence. J-Man, I love ya, and I will always miss you. You ment the world to me!

Love ya brother!

Another Warrior taken from the ranks of Blue.
Jerry, my friend, I appreciate the time we spent on the firing ranges and your friendship. The Mt. Juliet Police Department has lost a great training officer and model for new officers. The citizens of your city have lost a a sincere, and caring Officer.
To the family, May the Lord Bless and Comfort you during these trying times. We ask why this happened? Only the Lord knows the reason. When we lose an Officer the whole Brotherhood / Sisterhood of Law Enforcement mourns.
To the friends, feel Blessed to have known this man.
To the Mt. Juliet Police Department, and co-workers, There will be some long days and nights ahead, but remember Jerry is up there still walking the beat and we will see that big smile again one day.
May you Rest In Peace my Brother.......

As an officer in Avery County NC, which borders Eastern Tennessee, I am so very sad to hear of the deaths of these fine officers in our neighboring State. Automobiles continue to kill so many good officers. This tragedy cuts to the bone for all of us in the family of the badge, no matter where we work or what uniform we may wear. We all share in the grief and loss. I regret that I was away on National Guard duty and could not attend the funerals.

Both officers died heroes and they are a great credit to the Volunteer State. I hope that the perpretrators are brought to swift justice. I pray for the families, friends and colleagues of these brave officers, who now walk a beat in Heaven with St. Michael. God Bless and be safe.

Jerry, I can remember when I was younger that if I ever got in this line of work you would kick me in my butt! Well, when I did start this you kept your promise! I wouldn't change anything though! You could always make things seem so much better than they were. You were the sunshine on a cloudy day with your smile. You are deeply loved & deeply missed but I know you are the one who is up there when we arrive home saying "SAFE"!

I work in the county that the two officers worked in. I work on the ambulances and fire engines. I have probally worked on a scene with them but I do not remember their faces but they are still brothers to me. I read something yesterday that made me think of the two officers...
To love someone is to lay you life down for someone else.

Those we love remain with us...
In the whisper of the wind
In a soft rain that falls from heaven
In each sunrise
In every single star that lights the nights sky and
In every single memory we hold within our hearts.

Jerry, you could light up even the gloomiest room with your infectious smile. I'll miss your morning serenades of whatever song happened to have been playing in your patrol car.

Words cannot express how much we will miss you.

Dispatcher M Chansler

Rest my Brother as you have done your time on these streets. We will move closer and fill your gap in the thin blue line but in doing so we will always know that you are there beside us and watching over us. Help us all continue your beliefs and devotion to making our Country a better place. My prayers and condolences to the family, friends, and fellow officers of this fallen Hero.

Detective J.D. Coarsey

I had the pleasure of working with you for 11 years and hoped to continue our friendship for years to come. But God had other plans for you. My love and respect will see no end my brother. If the angels don't play baseball you may be lost. Save a game for me and we will play when I get there. Go with God my brother and patrol those streets of gold. We will carry on every day in your name.

Cpl. Joseph R. Patton

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. GOD Bless

Jerry was an unbelievable man. He was an outstanding officer, husband, and friend. He truly cared about the people he was protecting. It's so sad to know that other officers won't have the benefit of his knowledge and style.
I'll miss you.
