I remember you so well from our academy class. I remember feeling so bad at your funeral. Little did we realize that twelve days later our entire nation would feel devestated on 9-11-01.

In loving memory of Jake Kuredjian:
I came to the website today to post
a message for a deputy that died
just 2 weeks after you did. (Matt Herzog, Whatcom County S. O. , WA
state) I noticed you were highlighted on the website so I wanted to read your reflections.
Not all police officers have integrity as your killer proved, but I know the
vast majority of leos are really decent, with large hearts and a strong desire to serve. It really takes
a special person to serve in this capacity and it is a real tragedy when
one falls as he fulfills a role not many choose.
I know the pain your survivors are
still trying to come to terms with and
my heart goes out to you on this long
journey. We thank you for your sacrifice, Jake and please know that
time does not diminsh it.

On the 4th anniversary of your death, not a day goes by that I do not think about what happened. My dad was then a Captain with LASD. I remember the day he came home from work and told me about the news. You are not forgotten. You were there to help your fellow brothers in need, and we are here for you.thank you for everything DEPUTY.God Bless You

I came to know Jake when I married his relative. He is exactly as his police friends have described. It was a terrible blow for our family to lose Jake and I appreciate deeply the love and memories posted here. Thank you and God Bless.

As I stroll the halls of the SCV Sheriff Dept, I see all the pictures and the bulletin boards with Jake's memories sprawled across them. The garden at the station in his memory, took my breath away. I never had the privelage to meet him, but the loss is still great. I was coming home from a funeral the day Jake died and it was a day of double sadness for me. I remember driving by the station in the days to follow and not even being able to see the doors from all the flowers and candles and such left at the step. Jake, your smile was infectious, your heart was as big as the sky, I wish I had known you. My thougts and prayers are with you in heaven, take care of my little boy while you are up there. You are a great role model :)

Jake, you have not been forgotten my friend. I retired this month and was in the locker room to clear out my gear. Every time I am there, I walk to your old locker and read some of the notes we left on your locker door. I teach at COC now and dedicate class time to you. Take care and watch over us. See ya around, some day.

August 31, 2001, I and my husband were on our way to Kure Beach, North Carolina for a Labor Day weekend church retreat when we heard over the radio about Deputy Kuredijan's death. The two events are now forever inseparable in my mind. Just by looking at his picture, I can tell that Jake was a decent, kind man. He won't be forgotten ...

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer. Tonight, August 31, 2003 we dedicated the shift to the memory of Deputy Hagop Jake Kuredjian who died on this date two years ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

Deputy Kuredjian's sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Jakes Family,
It has been over a year since we lost him. And as I look and read all the tributes to Jake, the tears still run down my face with sadness at the short time I was graced with knowing him. Jake and I spent 3 weeks together training in the Motorcycle Course. In those 3 weeks we really had a great time training, laughing, and goofing off. What a joker he was. We nicknamed him "Krazy Gideon". I stood in the hot sun at his grave with tears and sweat running down our faces. It was the very least we could do. God gives us such brief moments in our lives to share with others, and I will never forget Jake's. May God ease your pain as each day passes by. It was an honor to have known you Jake.

This is terrible I hate it when cops pass. I hate to ask but I believe I saw this warrior on COPS? Serving a warrant, the same event that ended his superlative life.

Jake was the nicest person I ever met in my life. He was always there for me like a brother. He was very loyal to his friends and family. He always encouraged me to pursue my dreams and goals in life.

To the family & friends of Deputy Kuredjian:
It sounds like thunder far away, but the skies are blue and bright...And soon they crest the hill nearby, and ride into our sight. They shake the ground with powerful sound, and they make some hearts beat fast...They look so proud and noble, like knights come from the past.
Side by side, they always ride, and seem to move as one...From early in the morning light, to the setting of the sun. And children point and wave to them, from cars that pass them by...And young ones ask their parents, why the men have mirrors for eyes.
They ride the roads, and fight for good, and defend small ones like you...They ask to ride, and do with pride, and sometimes they are few. Like men of steel, on silver wings, they sparkle in the light...then with a roar and rumble, they ride out of our sight.
Sometimes when one has fallen, never to ride again...You can hear the others calling, like thunder on the wind. Side by side, they slowly ride, and their thunder is a mournful sound...And the mirrors hide their eyes from us, when teardrops fall to ground.
So if you see one riding, and you look into his face...You see your reflection in his eyes, you know that you are safe. For motormen are a special breed, they love to ride the wind...And when you hear the thunder boom, the fallen one rides again.
God Bless

“Cops Cry Too”

I pull this child from the twisted steel
that used to be a car
I hold her body close to my chest
as her blood drips across my star.
And as her precious life slowly ebbs
out on my uniform of blue,
I realize that there are times
when even cops cry, too.

Every day out on the streets,
we hear the cries of pain
And if we let them touch our hearts
we all would go insane
And so we learn to mask our thoughts;
emotional displays are few
But there are times you have to know
that even cops cry, too.

Silver stars upon our chests
guns hanging at our sides
Steely eyes, a poker face
an image forged with pride
But somewhere in this image making
a misconception grew
Although we feel your pain and sorrow,
we cops must not cry, too.

I buried my best friend today,
killed in the prime of his life
Doing what he loved to do best
but he paid the ultimate price
And all around me, tears flowed freely
for a brother a bad man slew
Why is it so hard to realize that big tough cops cry, too.
