My dear friend Jake,
We always think of things to say when it seems to be to late. I have a definite feeling though. I know that you know how much your life has effected everyone you knew. Your smile, your laugh, the way you were always there for all of us. We first met 17 yrs. ago when you came to work for me at WHR. SO.. 17 yrs. is a long time, but it was not nearly long enough!! Jake, you are already missed more than you will ever know. In loving memory Bob

Deputy Kuredjian....
Today was the funeral. Yes of course it was very sad. It was time to say Jake you are now 10-10 and unfortunately will not be 10-8 again or rolling code. You will be and are greatly missed already. I heard that an LASD officer/Deputy was shot and killed. I was hoping it was not a person I knew. Although I didn't know you my heart is broken. I am a former Explorer with CHP and VCSD/CPD. You are a still a fellow Officer to myself. I thank you for being that to me and serving the streets of LA and our County. I apprecaite it. I wish you were still 10-8. You will always and I mean always be 10-8 in everyone's heart who knew you, who knew of you, and in your brothers and sisters in blue's hearts, and of course your family and girlfriends hearts. We all deeply miss you. Sorry to hear about your death again. I wish I could bring you back but you are in a much better place now.

I knew Deputy Kuredjian , he was the finest example of law enforcement , and one of Los Angeles County's finest. We owe him a debt of gratitude.
On graduation day we were all excited ,when you take that oath you accept a responsibility unimaginable to most. When you put on that badge and go 10-8 ,that is when it all becomes the real deal.
It is hard to keep a positive attitude in our line of work, but evey time I saw Deputy Kuredjian I was inspired by his amount of friendliness, kindness, and positivity toward the job.
I extend a THANK YOU TO DEPUTY KUREDJIAN ,and thank him for his level of service and humanity that this job demands. He was a good man and I will forever have an ultimate respect for his courage.

MY PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY OF DEP. KUREDJIAN. I DID NOT KNOW HIM PERSONALLY BUT THE SHOCK AND PAIN OF HIS DEATH STILL RUNS DEEPLY WITHIN ME. I ONLY HOPE THAT HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS LOOK TO GOD FOR STRENGTH TO GET THROUGH THIS TOUGH TIME.

DEPUTY DEIDRA THOMPSON
LOS ANGELES COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT.

Jake was a great friend of mine and loved serving his community of Santa Clarita. We used to go riding our Harley's on the weekends and Jake would tell me how much he loved being an L.A. County Sheriff. He would often talk about his goal to be assigned to motors and even bought a police edition bike just to practice. He finally got his wish and graduated from the motor school five months ago. He was so happy and full of life. I just spoke to him last week and he was looking forward to spending his Labor Day weekend at Lake Havasu with his long time girlfriend, his boat and his fellow Deputies. It was a fluke that he was called to work a short shift on the Friday he was supposed to leave, but Jake being dedicated said no problem even though all his friends were leaving together that morning. And then the unthinkable happened. We heard a Deputy may have been shot. Then we heard Sheriff Baca announce his death. It felt like everything around us stopped and we were all sick to our stomachs, stunned in disbelief. How? It couldn't be Jake. But it was Jake and now we feel like we have all lost a part of us, a good part. Jake was the nicest guy you could ever know. He would always have a great smile and his positive attitude was contagious. You just loved the guy and you were happy when he was around. We will all carry a lot of heart ache around with us and we will never forget him.

Take care my friend. You will be missed.

Deputy Kuredjian, you gave seventeen years to the people in your community and your department. Now you can serve the heavens above. God bless you and your family.

Deputy Doug Sullivan
Fresno County Sheriff's Dept.

Father;

Another badge fell to the ground today.
Another star shines in heaven I pray.

Another Police Officer taken from this world we all know.
Another man risen so heaven could grow.

Another hero is born I see.
Another man's sacrifice a lesson to me.

Another brother paves the way.
Another back-up I call on my day.

Another family with shattered dreams.
Another widow sits crying in streams.

Another time I ponder life.
Another time I kiss my wife.

Another wish my Father above.
Please wrap this man in your heavenly love.

I was saddened to hear of the death of Deputy Kuredjian. I am not much of a poet, but these words I wrote to honor him. In my 16 years as a Police Officer I have seen, heard and taken my fair share of critisism. Those who taunt us and criticise us, will never understand the true heroism of every law officer that may face this reality some day. We must honor those like Deputy Kuredjian who paid the ultimate sacrifice for the community he served so valiantly.

It's just a cop

The funeral line was long
There are an awful lot of cars
Folks came out of restaurants
They came out of the bars

The workers at the construction sites
All let their hammers drop
Someone asked "What's all this for?"
And they said "Aw, just a cop."

Some chuckled at the passing cars
Some shed a silent tear
Some people said, "It's stupid."
"All these policemen here."

"How come they aren't out fighting crime?"
"Or in a doughnut shop?"
"Sure is a lot of trouble,
For someone who's just a cop."

They blocked the intersections
They blocked the interstate
People yelled and cursed,
"It's gonna make me late!"

"This really is ridiculous!"
"They're making us all stop!"
"It seems they sure are wasting time,
On someone who's just a cop."

Into the cemetery now
The slow procession comes
The woeful Taps is slowly played
There's a loud salute from guns

The graveyard workers shake their heads
"This service is a flop!"
"There are lots of good words wasted,
On someone who's just a cop."

Yeah, just a cop to most folks
Did his duty everyday
Trying to protect us
'Til they took his life away

And when he got to Heaven
St. Peter put him at the top
An angel asked, "Who was that?"
St. Peter said "Aw, just a cop!"

My heart and prayers go out to Deputy Kuredjians family, friends, and especially his brother officers. He made the ultimate sacrifice for those he swore to serve and protect, and has surely earned a place in heaven.

Godspeed, Brother.
