Warden Arnold Magoon was killed when he was assaulted by a deer poacher in Brandon, Vermont. The suspect struck him several times in the head with a flashlight. The man was sentenced to six to twenty years for the murder.

Warden Magoon had been with the agency for 18 years and was survived by his wife and two sons.

I remember this night so well! A man doing his job as the professional he was , killed by a coward! The individuals with this coward were cowards also. They all disgraced the town we were all born in. Brought disgrace to their families not to mention themselves!
Thank you Arnold for the example you always portrayed of bravery and honor! For your love of our wildlife and desire for it to be shared with the youth that have followed us!
