Paul Michael Kennefick

Patrolman Paul Kennefick was killed in an automobile crash on Route 3 South, near Route 53, in Hanover.

An oncoming vehicle entered his travel lane, causing him to swerve and slam on his brakes. A vehicle traveling behind him then rear-ended his vehicle as it attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle too.

Four occupants of the wrong-way vehicle exited their car, then re-entered and fled the scene.

Patrolman Kennefick was a Vietnam War veteran who had served with the Metropolitan Police Department for eight years and was assigned to the Mounted Unit. He was survived by his wife, three children, parents, and six siblings.
