Patrick Joseph Pollock

Officer Patrick Pollock was shot and killed during a foot pursuit of an armed robber.

He and his partner were eating lunch when a call came of an armed robbery across the street from the restaurant on East Colfax. The officers observed two suspects run out of the business and began to pursue them. Officer Pollock chased one man into a residential area. As Officer Pollock ran through an opened gate, the suspect ambushed him and shot him in the head. The suspect, who was on parole, was then shot and killed by Officer Pollock's partner.

Officer Pollock had served with the Denver Police Department for seven years. He was survived by his mother and brother.

I wasn’t an officer, a friend or relative, I am a citizen who was just getting involved in neighborhood organizations and only met Officer Pollack once. His reputation was that of concern, kindness and commitment. There were neighbors who often requested him to a call sometimes for minor things and he handled things fairly.

I thought of him when some friends were talking about places we used to eat, and how good the food was. The location of the robbery came up, and I shared the tragedy of Officer Pollock’s life being taken. It caused me to be more conscious and appreciative of the sacrifices made for my safety.

Condolences and peaceful loving memories to you all.
