K9 Charlie was inadvertently shot and killed during a narcotics raid at 9:30 am in Conway.

The Arkansas State Police, Conway Police Department, and Faulkner County Sheriff's Office executed a multi-jurisdictional narcotics warrant at a home. During the search, an officer thought K9 Charlie was the homeowner's dog and would attack him. K9 Charlie succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The homeowner was arrested and charged with maintaining a drug premise, possession with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

K9 Charlie had served with the Arkansas State Police for five years and had completed SWAT training a few months earlier.
