Reflections for Police Officer Gregory Player Mullinax

Rest in Peace, Officer Mullinax. Your sacrifice is not forgotten.

Officer 11169
March 24, 2012

Greg, I will never forgot the horror I felt after hearing what had happened to you. You were our neighbor and friend and things like that weren't suppose to happen to someone so young.

We watched after Heather and Tasha until we moved. They continue to be in our hearts just as you are.

My son, Logan, passed away, suddenly, 11 months ago. He was just 24 like you Greg. I hope you will look after him for us.

Until we all meet again.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 31rst anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer

Time never diminishes respect and your memory will always be honored and revered. I pray for solace for all those who love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever. Your family is in my heart's embrace today. Tasha and Heather, ,thanks for sharing a wife and daughter's devotion to their beloved husband and father.

I was also sad to know that Gregory's partner Greg Thames had also passed, but I am confident the loyal friends and partners are now together again.

Rest In Peace.

Even though it's been 31 years, we still miss you and think of you. You left a wonderful footprint on this earth for someone so young and we are blessed to have shared that time with you.

What a waste of life that was - What a wonderful father you were . . . you are missed and taken way, way too early. You would be so proud of your grandboys - Heather is a wonderful mother and would make you so proud!

I never had the chance to meet you, but I know your wife and daughter. Your memory is still with them. Tasha rides in the Police Memorial Ride every year in your honor, and they attend the Cobb County FOP Memorial Service each year. They will never forget and we will never forget your sacrifice. We got to know each other fairly well at Marietta, being on the same shift. We were the same age, our wives were the same age, our daughters were the same age. we tried to eat dinner together as much as was possible. Remember us talking the day you left Marietta? Iwas working that terrible night and heard your call. It's been 30 years and it's still in my nightmares. Iknow your memory has helped make me a better person over the years. Thanks for being a good friend during a tough time. If there are police in heaven, I'm sure you're the chief.

This week has been so hard on me and my family but I know you and my dad are up there watching over us and guiding us through this difficult time. My mom and I start back to work tommorrow... It will be the first time in almost 3 weeks we both have been there. It will be hard to get behind phones not knowing what each call holds and not being able to have my dad to ask questions and tell the stories of the day to. Please let my dad know we love and miss him everyday, I know you met him at the gates and gave him the tour just like you did his rookie year at Austell. Keep watching over my mom, she needs you and him right now...

My last reflection is not here for some reason. It was made 2-8.

We lost Greg. Probably the only other person on this earth that still held onto your memory like it was yesterday, as tightly as I do. I find it devastating. But, I know that you are out there somewhere ordering pizzas with anchovies to gross him out and telling stories.

He will be buried tomorrow, and I will be there in your name, as he has always been for me.

Partners again.

28 years and I STILL REMEMBER. I remember the dark, cold night, the crowd, the sudden attack on us. I remember the knives, the scissors, and the gunshots. I still smell the odor of gunpowder in the air. And above all I remember your sacrifice.

Greg,
We never met, but thanks to you I had the best Sgt. a rookie
Yankee could ever have. Sgt Thames took me to the site of the incedent on many occasions and related the incident in detail. Again thank you for all you and your family have given. It is unfortunate that there are other Officers who have had to follow your path. Thanks God for all you brave souls.

Merry Christmas! We will be taking a Christmas wreath to your site and also one to Papa this weekend. I am also going to have a sticker made with your badge and The Thin Blue Line made for our license plate. I just found out they make those, pretty cool! I love you.
