To Mrs. Hobbs, children and the rest of the family.
I have prayed for you guys today. There is so many of us who are thinking of you and wanting to support you one way or another. There is very little we all can do to alleviate your pain, but just know that you will always have the help you need from those who have walked this same road that you are on now. Just reach out.

He went to work that day and did not know
This shift he served would bring such sorrow
This call to duty would be his last
His time on earth is now his past
God set this day as his time to go
Rest in peace Deceive Hobbs, now a hero
He gave the ultimate sacrifice
With integrity and pride he paid the price
His family, friends and colleagues will mourn
As an angel in heaven he is now reborn
His golden heart stopped beating
Hardworking hands at rest
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes the very best.

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when John was killed.

To the Hobbs family, fellow deputies, and all who call John beloved, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in our area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service Detective Hobbs gave to his community and the citizens of Arizona , and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on March 3, 2014.

On behalf of the Westerville, Ohio Division of Police, our thoughts and prayers are with the immediate family of Detective John Hobbs and the extended law enforcement family of the Phoenix (Arizona) Police Department. Rest in Peace brother and watch over us.

I fight not for glory or fame, for they are momentary. I fight for those who can't. I fight for Justice. I fight for the oppressed and the down trodden. And if I should lose my life for these just causes, then I have no regrets, For I serve to protect the innocent. It matters not where or when, for evil knows no boundaries. Be it fire, flood, or the threat of tyranny, I will not flee. Justice is my weapon. Faith is my shield. Hope is my armor. Cry not at my passing, for it was my Honor to fight for you. Shed not tears of sorrow, But tears of joy, for now, I stand with God.
